Hollywood Comes to Washington

I received some good news and some bad news in my e-mail today.

The good news is that a new Transformers movie will be filming in DC for 5 days this month.  Tuesday October 12th will be the big night, with stars of the movie and pyrotechnics near the US Capitol.  And there will be a spectator area.

The bad news:  They're filming another Transformers movie.

The good news: the Transformers crew just left Chicago and is now filming in Washington DC.

The bad news: there's another Transformers movie in the works.

The good news: I won't have to see it. You would have to drag me kicking and screaming into the lobby...

I find these comic book action films mildly amusing, but I wouldn't pay to see one of them.

Of course watching the filming of one would be interesting. If I'm not mistaken, they use computer graphics instead of actually building those transformer machines, right? I bet it would be fun to watch the actors reacting to things that aren't there.

If they could build those transformer machines, the war in Afghanistan would be going MUCH better.

There are a BUNCH of superhero movies coming up. The Green Hornet (blasphemy! a comedy), Green Lantern, Captain America, Thor, Justice League, etc. etc. They are also going to "reboot" the Superman franchise with a new Superman. Again.

What I hate is the "re-imagined" movies that remake old hits and totally distort them or even when they follow the original plot. They are never as good as the originals. If they want to re-imagine old movies, they should remake the real stinkers and improve on them.
