Hating the Sin and Not the Sinner

TugboatCap'n over at Truckerphilosophy has written a great article about the conflict that Christians feel when a true, dyed in the wool enemy of humanity meets tragedy. The guy should write a book. He could call it...ummm....Trucker Philosophy.

Now, I do not, nor would I ever wish brain cancer on anyone. It is a horrible disease, and apparently Ted Kennedy's case is inoperable, and most probably incurable. I have the utmost sympathy for both him as a person, and his family. My prayers are with them all. But if brain cancer will remove him from the U.S. Senate, I'll take it.

Is it any wonder that we miss him when he's gone? Mark, that goes for you too. As it turns out, this is a typical response from conservatives on the web to news of Kennedy's affliction. Here is an article that contrasts the reaction of conservatives to that of liberals when one of THEIR many, many, MANY enemies comes to a bad end. Warning: As with anything having to do with liberals, there is strong profanity.

The humanists didn’t show much humanity at the passing of Charlton Heston last month, either. The loving Left at Democratic Underground wrote such epitaphs as: If “liberal” means giving every mean-spirited bastard in the world a break solely on the account that they are a fellow homo sapien?… feeling any sense of loss that some sorry piece of s***humanity such as C Heston has checked out? Then sign me out. I am glad that he is no longer breathing the same air that you and I share. Just tell me the address to where I need to mail my “Liberal” card.

This kind of demonic hatred just leaves me drained. Can these people not see how evil they are? Most can't. Some can but don't care. Can there by any doubt as to whom we would rather have in positions of authority in this world?
