Malaysian Bandstand

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 (Reuters) - There will be no revealing costumes at U.S. singer Gwen Stefani's concert in Malaysia this month, a newspaper said on Saturday, after a Muslim student group demanded that the event be cancelled as being too obscene.....

Malaysia's official guide for performers says women must be covered from the top of the bosom to the knees, the Star said.

Jumping, shouting and the throwing of objects are barred, while performers may not hug, kiss or wear clothes with obscene or drug-related pictures or slogans, it added.
And Malaysia considers itself a moderate country. Since Muslims consider dogs to be filthy, she won't even be able to wear a poodle skirt.

At the risk of being totally uncool, I have no idea who this person is.

Just a singer, unless you saw "The Aviator" where she played Jean Harlow for about 10 minutes of the film I doubt anyone one with any musical taste would know of her.

If that's a moderate muslim nation I would like to know what a liberal muslim nation would be like.

There's no such thing as a liberal Muslim nation. I'd say Turkey is about as liberal as they get, and my year there was like living on another planet.

My son tells me she looks just like my daughter, who will have her second baby in a few days. I don't see the resemblance, other than they are both blondes and pretty.

Well, now, Liberal is relative, isn't it?

Mark, no it's progressive. That's why you never can tell what they believe beyond marx

My daughter, who looks like Gwen Staphani, according to my son, gave birth last night to a bouncing baby girl, 6 lbs 9 oz, Alaina Kay.

The greatest disappointment of my life is not having a daughter. There's a whole part of my heart that's full of love I won't be able to share.
