Why I Can Never Again Date

Waaaayy back when I was hunting for a mate, I looked in places like work, libraries, church, etc. I've never been in a bar or club in my life. And Dale Evans didn't meet Roy Rogers in a cowboy bar. If you want the perfect mate, you have to strive to be perfect yourself. So, you can imagine my dismay when I stumbled across this article.

Jonathan Huber surveyed 143 women in clubs between the ages of 18 and 28 about what works when a man is trying to get their attention at a bar.

While most women in the survey said they preferred a man introduce himself and start a conversation when they first meet, about 30% said "grinding" is an acceptable way to pick someone up.

"Grinding" is exactly what it sounds like -- a man introduces himself to a strange woman by coming up behind her on the dance floor and rubbing his pelvis against her.

In case you think this is a bit exaggerated, 84% of the women in the survey say this is how they have personally experienced new men introducing themselves.

This article is from a Canadian newspaper. I'd like to think things are better in the lower 48, but I'm guessing they're worse. And who can we blame for the coarsening of our society? You guessed it.

Yeah, and how did that library deal work out for you, Ranger?

Well when I was about 10, I had a crush on the bookmobile driver.

Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I think grinding would be a great way to get myself slapped, kicked, punched, and/or arrested.

Hmmm, scenes from nature films flashed through my head while reading that.

Perhaps we need to go back to the old version of "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" where it was just fade to black. :)
