KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Muslim-majority Malaysia's first astronaut will get guidelines on how to pray facing Mecca five times a day and how to eat space meals under Islamic rules.I'm wondering what a space burka will look like. The government-prepared advice is for a Malaysian Muslim who is to join a Russian scientific mission on the International Space Station in October.

No More Pigs in Space
It had to happen sooner or later. Are we ready for Muslim astronauts? They will be required to observe Muslim laws while orbiting earth. If that applies to Islamic bathing customs (or lack thereof), it could mean the end of space exploration.

It would have probably been more truthful if it said:
"The government-prepared advice is for a Malaysian Muslim who is to join a Russian scientific mission on the International Space Station in October
AND BLOW IT UP."
Yeah, hope he doesn't kill everybody up there...
"I'm wondering what a space burka will look like."
A female, muslim astronaut has already been to space and back.
American Muslim Anousheh Ansari, became the world's first female space tourist in 2006. No burka for this progressive lady!
Hubby and I got a big kick out of this one. :)
Actually, given what all a space suit covers, the burka may not be needed. Just might have to wear the helmet all the time, though.
