Wanted, Dead or Alive

Every superstar has a cause. Richard Gere's cause is to free Tibet -- and to generally glom onto anything else happening in that region of the world. Freeing Tibet is a pipe dream (whatever that is). China is in firm control of Tibet and is doing its best to destroy its culture by funneling in thousands of Chinese immigrants who couldn't care less about Tibet's heritage, customs and culture. As long as there is a Communist China, Tibet will be an oppressed nation. And it looks like China will be around a long time, since they've rejected communism and have adopted Kapitalism.

Anyhoo, you'd think that someone like Richard Gere, who has made South Asian affairs a hobby, would take the trouble to learn the customs and taboos of nations in that region. Nope.

It seems that at an AIDS fund raiser, Gere grabbed a popular Indian actress (not the feather kind of Indian, the dot kind of Indian) and kissed her several times on the cheek. Well, you'd think he had bowed his head in prayer at an atheist convention (like atheists have meetings of any kind).

And now there is an arrest warrant out for both Gere and said babe (not the feather kind of babe, the dot kind of babe) he kissed. There have been mass demonstrations, burnings in effigy, even an occasonal small-scale riot. Don't confuse Hindus with Buddhists. Despite their purported reverence for life, they can be just as extreme and murderous as Muslims. If you aren't a cow or a monkey, India can be a dangerous place.

Looks like Gere will have to arrange his travel plans to avoid India for awhile. I feel sorry for the babe (not the feather -- well, you get it) though, who lives in India and is subject to the law, no matter how ridiculous.

A pipe dream is what you might get when visiting an Opium Den...

LOL, Rick!

Yep, one would think Mr. Gere would know about such laws given the time he spends there.

I think Ms. Shetty's mistake was that she smiled when he kissed her. Good heavens, we can't have that! :)

From what I saw in the video, she was quite uncomfortable, smile or not.

I personally care nothing for Richard Gere or his causes, but really, what did he do that's so bad?

Hinduism is a Demonic religion, in fact, it is the religion of Karma, which is the cruelest joke Satan ever played on mankind. Karma is the idea that whatever you are in life cannot be changed. If you are a beggar, you were meant to be a beggar. If you are wealthy, you are meant to be wealthy, and you have to be a good beggar in this life if you want to be wealthy in the next life, and so on. Hindus allow child abuse, spousal abuse, and culture abuse. It is the idea that causes wealthy people to casually walk right by starving children in the streets of Bombay without offering to help. All in the name of Karma.

She would be better off denouncing her religion and culture, and converting to Judaism or Christianity. Hinduism is the problem here, not Gere's ignorance of the culture.
