Well, lots of luck on achieving that 10-day goal. I don't know how you'll pull it off if you can't already do it. Meanwhile, I can count on open-carrying for at least another six months. Then, the county has 45 days to process my application. I should be licensed in time to carry a gun under my red suit when I make my annual Santa Drive around the DC beltway.Thank you for submitting a request to the National Personnel Records Center. We have received your signature authorization for request number ************.The majority of these types of requests are serviced in 25 weeks or less. We regret the lengthy response time required to service your request. We service approximately 20,000 requests each week and are working earnestly and successfully at reducing our response time. Our goal is to reduce our response time on these types of requests to ten days or less.Thank you.

Good Enough for Government Work
SO, as you all know, I'm in the process of getting my concealed-carry permit. One of the documents I need in lieu of an expensive handgun course is a DD form 214, which shows I've been honorably discharged from the military. I never touched a handgun in the military, but let people cling to their myths.
I sent off for the form, which requires a signature on a document I downloaded, and I got this reply.

Twenty-five weeks?? They certainly reach for the stars with 10 days as their goal, don't they!
At least they told you it was going to be 25 weeks (!). Normally I'd expect a government office to tell me only when I called them eight weeks after I sent in the paperwork. Well, that's if you can get a human on the line.
I can't be sure this e-mail was sent by a human. And people fear robots will take over the world in the future. It's already happened!
Chin up, Kimo. I got some records from them and I don't think it took nearly that long...
