They Were Warned

So, I just woke up for a drink of water and made the mistake I always make -- I turned on the TV. And there was chaos. Some "mad gunman" as the media describes him, killed 32 people and himself. The ghoulish gun grabbers will exploit this situation to "prove" that guns need to be banned. This shooting could not have been prevented by gun control, but was the RESULT of gun control. Here's a portion of an e-mail I got from the president of the Virginia Citizen's Defense League, which I recently joined.
As most of you know VCDL has been pushing hard to change Virginia law to allow college and university students with concealed handgun permits to be able to carry a gun on campus for self-defense. Last year Delegate Todd Gilbert put in such a bill for us and so did Delegate Mark Cole this year. We could not get the bills out of subcommittee. We warned the General Assembly that violent crime can, and does, happen on campuses across the Commonwealth. But the university and college lobbyists swore that crime was not an issue and that the schools did not want students and visitors to be able to defend themselves with a gun or other weapon. They argued that the schools had little boxes with lights that had a button someone could press if they needed the police. The General Assembly turned a deaf ear to allowing college and university students to be able to protect themselves and here we are today :-( While it is NOT illegal for a college or university student with a CHP to carry in Virginia, they could get expelled (or fired if a teacher). And that is a severe enough financial penalty that students don't want to take the chance. Who can blame them? But, I'll bet a few are reconsidering their position now. Expelled by 1 or carried by 6?
Judge Andrew Napolitano on Fox News just said the school will very likely now face a HUGE lawsuit because although it is legal for the students to carry a gun off campus, they can't carry them for self-protection on campus.

If the gun grabbers don't get it now, they never will.

They are simply stupid. Stupid people aren't incapable of learning, they don't want to learn.

I'm curious to know if the shooter used his own legal guns to commit this crime.

I'd be willing to bet money that he didn't.

But then again, it really doesn't matter.

It is already against the law to shoot people with a gun, whether it is registered or not, no matter what kind of permit you have.

There are some reports that this guy was a Chinese on a student visa who was dumped by his girlfriend. If true, we just got a taste of Chinese culture. Chinese males do not take rejection lightly. In fact, this is fairly routine in China. Some guy gets dumped and walks onto a bus with a bomb or kills the girl and her family or some other stupid thing.

They don't. And they won't.

As a woman, I can tell you that my ability to handle a firearm is a great equalizer for me when I'm forced by circumstances to be somewhere I would rather not be at a time I shouldn't be there. For me, peace is spelled Smithandwesson.

Seems like law enforcement acted a little more boldly in this case than they did at Columbine...

I dunno. They were a tad slow, letting the guy leisurely shoot 30 people before they broke in. In a situation like that, police should throw caution to the wind and charge in full-bore, guns blazing. There's no negotiating with these people and every second they're alive means another person dies. They should go in with the intention of killing the gunman as quickly as possible.

Also, in the first shooting of a man and woman, they thought it was a murder-suicide -- despite the fact that there was no gun at the scene. Took them an hour to figure that one out.
