I Told You So

One year after the endless Duke University rape case broke, the charges have finally been dropped. I thought this whole thing stank from the beginning. Now things are going to get interesting. The families of these "boys" are going to sue Nifong, the Durham DA's office, and most interestingly, administrators and professors at Duke University, who tossed logs on the fire by signing a letter condemning the students and having them suspended. Lotsa blame to go around here and I wish the families all the luck in the world.

I hope they don't need much luck, it should be so cut-and-dried that all parties will just settle. (Yeah, right.)

There will be an out of court settlement within a year.

The city's attorneys will know they are sunk on this one because the DA was wilful and intentionally continued the charges even when he knew the information vindicated those boys.

Unfortunately, prosecutors have immunity, even under federal civil rights laws (which were clearly violated here) from suits by their victims.
