Democrats Move Into Next Phase of Repression

It has come to this:
TALLAHASSEE -- A state legislator whose district is home to thousands of Caribbean immigrants wants to ban the term "illegal alien" from the state's official documents. "I personally find the word 'alien' offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children," said Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami. "An alien to me is someone from out of space."
These drama queens on the left are constantly rending their clothing and wailing about how dangerous conservatives are to the Constitution. But who is it who establishes speech codes on campuses? Who is it who wanted to ban the sale of Ann Coulter's last book? Who is it who wants a "fairness doctrine" that will pretty much kill conservative talk radio? And now, who is it who actually wants to codify a speech ban into law? In today's permissive society, I'm offended by something nearly every day. But in most cases, I deal with it. I don't expect the government to get involved. I don't know whether it's group think or a particular symptom of the mental illness called liberalism, but leftists all over the world share a compulsion to restrict the speech of anyone who does not accept their views. In Germany, it's against the law to deny the holocaust. Countries like Britain, France, the Netherlands and even Switzerland, have laws banning "hate speech." And then there are the good, old-timey Communist regimes like Vietnam, Laos, Cuba, North Korea and China, where one can just be hauled off to a labor camp or insane asylum for saying the wrong thing. Political correctness isn't a form of etiquette. It's a Marxist invention to make sure that nobody says , publishes or even thinks anything that might not match the government political line. We haven't gotten that far -- yet. But it's only a matter of time, if liberals are allowed to have their way. Oh, and "out of space?" It's "outer space," you nerd. Oh, wait. Is a person who knows that a nerd, or the person who doesn't?

Good points all.

LR, We now know that Frederica Wilson is politically ambitious and expects to garner coveted points with the Florida Democrat party for proposing her inane speech ban (the cost of which alone would make its serious consideration prohibitive).

Wilson is also carrying water for a national party that wants to grant voting rights to illegals and convicts, but feels chances would be improved for "undocumented immigrants" and "victims of society".

This stunt helps both her party status and re-election chances. Prediction: Watch her rise in state politics with growing Latino support.

Likes Dems everywhere, she feels expressed intentions trump critical thought and adequate planning. Thus, she demonstrates her own cranial capacity is never "out of space".

I think neither "out of space" or "outer space" would be considered accurate. I believe it would be more accurate to refer to aliens as "beings from another planet." Technically, being from outer space implies that the alien has no physical home, but rather floats around eternmally in the vaccuum of space, until he/she/it lands on a planet.
