Gun Play

I don't know what prompted me to do it, but I went to a site this morning called OpenCarry.org and found that Virginia (where I live) is an open carry state. That means, a citizen can carry a gun without even a permit if it is displayed openly. The only prohibition is they can't be carried in state parks. Hmmmm. I'm going to have to think about this. It might be difficult to do in the winter, but come spring, I might be in the market for a gun.

When I lived in New Mexico in the early 70s, there was a guy that I saw several times who was dressed from head to toe like Palladin. He wore a .45 single-action in a cowboy holster. I always wondered what that was all about and now I realize that New Mexico is an open carry state too.

Stay tuned to the saga, if any.

When I lived in prestigeous North Cobb County, Georgia, there was a little town, Kennesaw Mountain, I think it was, that made national headlines by passing an ordinance that all heads of household HAD to own a firearm. The proprietor of the Civil War memorabilia shop in town sported a huge hogleg stuck in his belt...

OK then so the question is...do you have to take off your gun when indoors or in the presence of a lady?

Or unlike your hat it is with you at all times?

The only time I have my .45 on for the world to see is when I go down to Wild Bill days in Deadwood or when I'm out hunting. There are too many sheep in this would that would react weird for me to do it on a regular basis.

Tonto, you never take your gun off unless you've got to shoot a bad guy or an out of control animal. (although my .45 does dig into my side when I'm trying to sleep, so I just put it under my pillow.)

Well, I'd have to leave it at home if I planned to go to Maryland or DC since, in this weird country, you lose certain constitutional rights when you cross a state border.

Oh, and in the shower.

Thanks. Somehow my formal education lacked Gun Etiquette 101, but learning it now is more fun anyway.
