Don't Pay the Ransom, I Escaped

I've been a bit lax in posting for the past three days -- or four. But, I've been busy with post Christmas stuff. On my way home from work Tuesday, I swung by Ft. Meyer to check out their sales. I got a $159 tree for just $39. It's seven feet tall and has 800 colored LED lights already on it. So, when I took down my old tree, it went down the trash chute. Now, I have something to look forward to next year. I also made a tasty pot of northern bean soup using a ham bone I snagged from the buffet table here at work. My coworkers all say they would be delighted if I made my buffalo wings for New Year's eve, so I guess I'm stuck with that. They were even willing to buy the chicken. I refuse to cook anything for MLK day. I got a $25 gift card for Cracker Barrel for Christmas, so I used it Thursday. I've been saving change in a glass vase since the metal detectors went up after 9/11, so I poured it all into one of those coin machines. It came to $286. I guess I'm eating steak for the next few days. I found out that about 10 apartments in my building are being upgraded. They'll be having an open house in a few weeks. So, if I like them, I might be moving. I've been in my apartment for over 10 years. That's the longest I've stayed in one place my entire life. It's 6 am. Breakfast time. Bean soup.

I wish I liked bean soup. Michael makes it too-- and I simply love the way it smells when he is preparing it and I've no doubt it is wonderful--- everyone says so... I just don't like bean soup...

a deficit of mine, I suppose.

By the way, when are you going to switch to the new blogger format? I believe they have most of the bugs worked out now.

Maybe he makes it differently. It's just a pound of great northern beans, a meaty hambone, a medium onion and eight cups of water. I put it in the slow cooker and just let it cook itself. I sometimes make a roux and sometimes not. But I always put a tablespoon of white vinegar in my bowl before I eat it. I guess that's a family thing. That's how I remember it from my childhood.

It won't let me switch over to the new version. I guess I'm one of those blogs that's too big or something.

I was going to ask you too about switching.

Wow now that you have a new tv you need an upgraded apartment to go with it. I wonder what they mean by the word "upgrade."

I am sorry I have not been on the blog either lately. I turned 34 yesterday and the thought of it all week made me speechless.

Happy Birthday Tonto!

As I recall, 34 was a great year. Besides... don't get hung up on the number... My meltdown occurred when I turned 30... that was 11 years ago and I've gotten better with age... if I do say so... enjoy the attention and well wishes. :-)

How could you have a birthday without notifying me in advance? I would have sent you a silver bullet.

Ahh, to be 34 again. I was on top of the world. I was a news director, living in Japan. I guess it's a different perception depending on whether you're looking ahead or looking behind. It's the prime of your life.

Thanks for the well wishes Cathy and LR. I can always count on you LR for putting things in perspective. I feel better about my "condition" already...maybe 34 might be "my" year.
