OK, everyone mis-speaks once in awhile (well, I don't). But John Kerry saying that you'll be stuck in Iraq if you aren't smart and well-educated was just what the Republicans needed this close to an election. But where he really shot himself (an act with which he has some experience) was in his refusal to apologize. He claims it was a joke about Bush, not a slur of the troops. I watched the clip and I believe him. He meant to say that Bush is uneducated, Bush doesn't work hard and Bush is stupid. All lies. So, in his lame "explanation, " what he's saying is he didn't mean to disparage the troops, he meant to lie about the leader of the free world.
Two things. Uptight liberals should never try to joke. And, he didn't give me any indication he was joking. I can tell the difference between the Frankenstein monster and Herman Munster and when he said that, he wasn't in Herman mode. Second thing; what goes around comes around. How many time have Democrats deliberately twisted the words of Republicans to make the sound far worse than they were? Trent Lott comes to mind. Now to sit back and watch the fun as this snowballs.
And hope no Republican says anything as stupid.

I believe that was Kerry's intent, too, Gus. But the Kerry remarks backfire either way:
If Bush is the dunce Kerry imagines because he speaks so poorly and thinks accordingly (none of these are my opinion), what does Kerry's slip say for his own smarts?
Don't hold your breath for the next time the Dems nominate a non-lawyer; the last one elected was from Georgia, couldn't talk as well as Bush, and gave submariners a bad name in the management job market.
I've seen kerry try to joke in other situations and he is so dry and stiff he really shouldn't attempt it in public.
That's the problem his cronies don't do him any favors laughing at his attempts...now he thinks he can do them in public.
I think Skerry is losing it...I hope to see a new Swift-boat ad about this...
I haven't seen any activity on the swiftboat site since early November of 94. Maybe we ordinary Americans are just too unsophisticated to get Kerry's sense of humor. It's like if aliens landed from outspace. We'd look like chimps to them and their technology would be like magic.
What a shame the man just can't put on his big boy panties and apologize. Not real likely though, is it?
He's already made that impossible with his "I apologize to no one" remark. What's going to happen now is he's going to the bomb shelter with the other left-wing bomb throwers like Pelosi, Reid and Dean. We aren't going to see him again until after election day.
I have a bet with one of my home-boys that the next time the junior senator comes up for re-election, Beacon Hill will pull the plug on him. The price = a steak dinner.
Yes, sadly, I am now living in JFK's state...it's not my fault, really!
Actually, LR, what Kerry was trying to say was not that Bush is uneducated or stupid( although he thinks that), but rather that Bush did not do his homework, or study hard about Iraq, and that because of this, we, as a nation, are now stuck in iraq.
The real joke is that Kerry, in trying to slam the President for his portrayed inattention to detail, botched a joke which was not funny, only mean-spirited, and in the process revealed in stark detail, his true opinion of the U.S. Military, through his own inattention to detail.
TOO Funny!!
