They Don't Treat Their Pets Any Better Than Their People

I heard this was going to happen, but I had no idea they'd do it this way.

SHANGHAI, China (AP) -- A county in southwestern China has killed as many as 50,000 dogs in a government-ordered campaign following the deaths of three local people from rabies, official media reported on Tuesday. The five-day massacre in Yunnan province's Mouding county that ended Sunday spared only military guard dogs and police canine units, the Shanghai Daily reported, citing local media. Dogs being walked were taken from their owners and beaten to death on the spot, it said. Other killing teams entered villages at night creating noise to get dogs barking, then homing in on their prey. Owners were offered 5 yuan (63 U.S. cents) per animal to kill their own dogs before the teams were sent in, it said.

It's just their culture. And we are told that all cultures deserve equal respect.

They did this because three people died from Rabies?

Do we need any further proof of the value of our own Second Amendment?

Oh, wait...This was China, right?

Do you have any idea how many children went to bed hungry because of this?

With 50,000 dead dogs, I doubt whether ANYONE went to bed hungry.
