I am currently fighting Cindy Sheehan's hunger strike by trying to ingest more calories than she does. But according to this piece over at Michelle Malkin's blog, I think I'm losing the battle.
I find traveling out of the country very challenging being on a fast. When I was on a layover in Madrid on my way to Venice, Italy yesterday, the closest thing I could find to a smoothie to get a little protein was a coffee with vanilla ice cream in it. Traveling for 22 hours is very taxing under normal circumstances--but then again, when have we had normal circumstances since the 2000 and 2004 successful coup attempts that have brought BushCo into power?
I traveled from Venice to the frontier of Italy to the province of Udine which is right at the foot of the pre-Alps. I am here for a huge youth festival which includes many elements of social justice and peace work. It is beautiful and the air feels different from other places that I have travelled. It is strangely soft and gentle as is the natural light. However, there is not a Jamba Juice on every corner, so blended juice drinks with protein powder are impossible to find.
I thought she was going to drink nothing but water all summer, but now it appears that if you can drink it, it isn't eating, and if it isn't water, it isn't drinking. What's she going to do next, puree a pizza?

At first I thought you were joking until I went to Malkin's site...rather than fighting for peace she is going to fight to get into her PANTS!!!
There may not be a Jamba Juice in Venice but I hear they do have stretchy pants...
I don't even know what a Jamba Juice is, and I'm not curious enough to look it up.
Oh that must be a west coast thing...but I am sure they are coming to you. It is basically a chain like STARBUCKS for Juices. You can get smoothies of any kind you want to make. Suppose to be all very healthy, all natural fruit, and yogurt and ice and sherbet mixed and sold to you for the bargain basement price of $5.95. Pureed food is all she can eat I guess. But at 600 calories in a smoothie and 1,200 in a frappuccino...hip, hip, hoorah for her.
The only thing I want coming my way is an In&Out Burger. I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I finally saw California in my rear view mirror -- but I stopped at an In&Out first.
