OK, This Is A Dumb Idea

From the BBC:

A US state is to enlist web users in its fight against illegal immigration by offering live surveillance footage of the Mexican border on the internet.

The plan will allow web users worldwide to watch Texas' border with Mexico and phone the authorities if they spot any apparently illegal crossings.

Texas Governor Rick Perry said the cameras would focus on "hot-spots and common routes" used to enter the US.

So, let me get this straight. Millions of people all over the world are watching these cameras, and when an illegal is seen crossing the border, they will pick up the phone and report him. I repeat, MILLIONS of people!

Here's another scenario: What's to prevent these stupid open borders people or drug cartels from making false reports to distract the Border Patrol while people or drugs slip across the border? Although I think someone needs to rethink this plan, I'll be one of the first ones to tune in to these border cams.
