Give Peace a Chance

Been there, done that. No matter how many times we give peace a chance, it hardly ever works. In the entire history of mankind, the offer of peace has never deterred brutal regimes from being... well, brutal. The only thing evil people understand is force or the threat of force. Coalition forces today freed three Christian peace activists -- two Canadians and a Brit -- who had been kidnapped by Muslim "insurgents" in November. A fourth activist -- an American, of course -- was tortured and murdered three weeks ago. The activists belong to an outfit called Christian Peacemaker Teams. Despite calling themselves a Christian organization, these people are radical leftists. In an announcement of the action, they say the three men were "freed" not rescued. They give no credit to the military for putting their lives on the line to save these men. In fact, they regard the coalition forces as the bad guys.

We pray that Christians throughout the world will, in the same spirit, call for justice and for respect for the human rights of the thousands of Iraqis who are being detained illegally by the U.S. and British forces occupying Iraq.
On the masthead of their site it says: What would happen if Christians devoted the same discipline and self-sacrifice to nonviolent peacemaking that armies devote to war? Now they know. But I doubt that they get it. If they truly practiced what they preach, these three should have refused to be rescued. They should have told the troops to take their tools of violence and scram. But they didn't.

We Christians are a pretty crazy bunch. Sometimes we lose sight of where the Path leads. It wasn't that long ago that we were burning witches at the stake. If these people rezlly ARE Christians...

Unfortunately, there's no test to determine if a person is a Christian. I'm sure Hillary Clinton and Jane Fonda are fully confident that they are Christians. But by their fruits ye shall know them.
