For those of you looking for a quiet, low maintenance pet, may I suggest a penny? I have a pet penny named Abe. He's been living with me in this one bedroom apartment for about six years now. He never makes noise. He just likes to roam from room to room. He was in my bedroom for the past few months, and tonight I found him in the kitchen. I don't know what he eats, but he sure leaves lots of droppings. Every time I vacuum, I hear it being sucked up. I groom Abe about once a year. His coat tends to get a bit dark, but a once-over with a polishing cloth brightens him right up. Abe is one of those pets who sooths his master -- like tropical fish. I find that rubbing him between my thumb and forefinger calms me down. His best trick is to turn sommersaults over my knuckles from my thumb to my little finger and back again. For such a tiny pet, he sure is agile. I had a different pet penny in my last apartment. But he grew from a penny to a nickel. Next thing I knew, he was a quarter and I had to move to a bigger place. Somehow he got lost in the shuffle. I hope he's in a good home. Can you tell I've been up all night surfing hundreds of blogs? It's 6 am. I'm going to bed. Abe spent the night snoozing next to my Roomba. I'll have to tell you all about Rhumba the Roomba someday.
