Bizarro World

I've come to believe that liberals live in some sort of Bizarro World, where they must do everything opposite of how it should be done. Lowering taxes raises revenue, so they want to raise taxes. Sexual predators cannot be reformed, so they give them light sentences rather than locking them up for life, etc. But in no area are liberals more blindly stupid than in the matter of gun control. Whew, this is going to be long, so get a cup of coffee.

Tony Blair is being praised as America's greatest ally in the war on terror, but few people remember that he's a liberal. Except for the sexual assaults, he's a Clinton clone. And his government is at war with its own citizens. From the BBC comes this unusually honest article: Excuse the strange spelling, bad grammar and punctuation. It's the BBC.

A new study suggests the use of handguns in crime rose by 40% in the two years after the weapons were banned. The Centre for Defence Studies at Kings College in London, which carried out the research, said the number of crimes in which a handgun was reported increased from 2,648 in 1997/98 to 3,685 in 1999/2000. It also said there was no link between high levels of gun crime and areas where there were still high levels of lawful gun possession. Of the 20 police areas with the lowest number of legally held firearms, 10 had an above average level of gun crime. And of the 20 police areas with the highest levels of legally held guns only two had armed crime levels above the average.
Well, duh. It is a simple fact that wherever law-abiding people are allowed to defend themselves, violent crime decreases. Wherever law-abiding people are disarmed, the criminals take over. Every U.S. state that has legalized concealed carry has seen an average 24% drop in violent crimes in the following five years. Period. End of discussion. Nope, not for liberals. They reject our reality and substitute their own. Back to Britain. Government lawyers argued in the case of Tony Martin that "burglars are members of the public who must be protected from violent householders." Tony Martin is a farmer who discovered three men ransacking his home in the dead of night. This was after being burglarized more than two dozen times. So he hauled out his unregistered shotgun, wounded one criminal and killed a second. For defending his home, he was imprisoned for life. In Britain, the ancient concept that a man's home is his castle, is dead as a doornail. And that doesn't just mean using guns as a defense. It means using a baseball bat, a knife, fists. Any resistance whatsoever can land you behind bars, while the criminals walk free. Here's the latest. British doctors are now campaigning to ban steak knives. I kid you not. A team of researchers from West Middlesex University Hospital has proposed a ban on long, pointed kitchen knives, which they say are used FAR too often in violent assaults. Well, I can see that. Henry the VIII ate with his fingers. I guess they could just go back to the British tradition of eating bad food with bad table manners. After all, look how successful their gun ban has been! Next move? Cheese graters. I plan to buy stock in a spork company. What does this have to do with us? Liberal lunacy does not respect borders. The situation in Britain is our future if we don't continue to fight for our constitutional rights. Spork liberals. And the horse they rode in on.
