WASHINGTON (AP) - A Marine Corps general with battle awards is being counseled to watch his words more carefully after publicly observing that "it's fun to shoot some people."
Lt. Gen. James Mattis, a career infantry office (sic) now in charge of developing ways to better train and equip Marines, also made fun of the manhood of Afghans during comments Tuesday while speaking at a forum in San Diego.
On Thursday, Gen. Mike Hagee, the commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, issued a statement of regret about Mattis' remarks, saying they reflected "the unfortunate and harsh realities of war."
According to an audio recording, Mattis had said, "Actually, it's a lot of fun to fight. You know, it's a hell of a hoot. ... It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right upfront with you, I like brawling."
He added, "You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."
I used to train Marines. They aren't particularly known for parsing their words. I'm sure what the General MEANT to say is that it is a source of great personal satisfaction to eliminate evil from our world. We are a nation of good guys. We wear white hats, not black turbans. As maddening as it is to liberals, we are sexist enough to want to defend women and kick the butts of those sexually deviant "men" who harm them. Of course, that doesn't apply to all of us. Liberals proudly represent the town drunk and the village idiot. It is absolutely shameful that this brave man should be brought to task for castigating our enemy. If we were battling the Nazis, would an American general be counseled for using harsh words to condemn evil? If liberals had their way, probably yes, because gutless liberals don't know the difference between good and evil. According to them, all cultures are equally valid and deserve equal respect. They wouldn't rush to shut down the death camps of Hitler any more than they wanted to rush to shut down the killing fields of Pol Pot or Saddam. According to these moral midgets (oops, is "midgets" an insensitive word? I'm sooorrryyyy), all you have to do is reach out your hand and we will achieve world peace. Ooooh look at the rainbow!! Since General Mattis realizes that if you reach out a hand to these barbarians, you will come up shy of a limb, HE is the one under the harsh lights. Disgusting!!
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil liberties group, called on the Pentagon to discipline Mattis for the remarks.
"We do not need generals who treat the grim business of war as a sporting event," said the council's executive director, Nihad Awad. "These disturbing remarks are indicative of an apparent indifference to the value of human life." Indifference to human life????? What have Muslims done since the seventh century? Muhammad was a bandit -- he made his riches by attacking Jewish trade caravans. He was a racist -- he referred to blacks as "raisin heads." He was a slave trader. He was a sex addict who hated women. He was a con man. He was a mass murderer. He was a warlord. Have you ever had an Islamic missionary come tapping at your door to humbly request a few minutes of your time? Probably not, because that's not how Islam is spread. It isn't spread through persuasion, it's spread through invasion, infiltration and intimidation. Any modern-day profiler of serial killers would LOVE to have gotten into Muhammad's head. According to Islamic law, if you are an infidel, you are worthy of only three things -- death, slavery, or taxation into poverty. If you are a woman, you are the property of men. And I'm guessing more than a few Muslim terrorists consider the killing of Jews and westerners to be GREAT sport! Of course, liberals are buying into all this self-righteous posing. They possess minds that are no less defective than the enemies we face. Crack a book, people. LEARN about our enemy !
