Confirmation Games
OK, it's a given that Condoleeza Rice will be confirmed as Secretary of State, so why are these tedious, embarrassing hearings even being held? Embarrassing for the Democrats, I mean because Condi is cleaning their clock. These reprehensible politicians are holding these hearings only to speechify and pick at the administration. Barbara Boxer actually had the gall to question Condi's integrity Tuesday, pretty much calling her a liar. Condi got up in her face. It was GREAT! And why was Boxer dressed like a London chimney sweep?
For those of you with short memories, when Boxer was a Representative during the House bank "scandal" of 1992, she wrote 143 worthless checks in 39 months on the House bank. That prompted Boxer to tell the Sacramento Bee that "I didn't pay enough attention to my personal checking account." Ah, the Barbie Doll Defense -- "Math is hard!." But it was worse than Boxer let on, because the bad checks totaled $41,417 - or an average of $289.63 for each of her worthless checks. And this person sits in judgement of others???
By the way, I call it the House Bank "scandal" because it wasn't. When Democrats are caught in a scandal, it's all smoothed over. Nobody was fired, nobody went to jail, nobody was fined, it just all went away. And Barbara Boxer went on to become a Senator and pass judgement on people who are clearly her moral superiors. Don't even get me started on Ted Kennedy.
