RAAAAACIST! oops

There is so much to say, I don't know where to begin. This promises to be a lengthy post. Let's begin with Immutable Truth About Liberals# 17. Every time liberals get on their high horse, they get bucked off. The NAACP last week passed a resolution accusing the TEA party movement of being racist. Now, being accused by liberals of being racist is like being called a "poopy-head" by a three-year-old. The race card is the only card in the democrats' deck. As "proof" of their accusation, the NAACP cited a blog entry called a "Letter to Lincoln" that self-proclaimed Tea Party Express "leader" Mark Williams posted on his blog. He has since removed the letter, but it still exists in the blogosphere. Williams said the letter was parody, and I believe him. Unfortunately, he shouldn't quit his day job to do stand-up comedy. This "parody" was tasteless, offensive and not at all funny -- not unlike a Bill Maher monologue. Ah, but proving once again that there is a God in Heaven, this video emerged Monday of USDA official Shirley Sherrod, boasting in front of attendees at an NAACP awards dinner, how she withheld help from a white farmer seeking the agency’s help in saving his farm. Oops. Sherrod "resigned" hours after the video came to light. No reaction from the NAACP. The NAACP used to be the preeminent civil rights organization in this country. They were at the forefront of the fights against segregation, discrimination, the KKK, lynching and all the other racist atrocities foisted on this country by the democrat party. BUT, since democrats hijacked the organization from its Republican founders, I can't think of a single notable thing it has accomplished. The group has become the useful idiots of racist liberals. And don't even get me started on Eric Holder and the New Black Panthers. (That last sentence was to cut down on the length of this post.)

So, what are you saying? That there are black people who are so low as to hate white people? No, that's not right. Obama changed all that, didn't he?

And who does that white farmer think he is, trying to horn in on the welfare system!Next, he'll be growing an afro and moving to the hood...

I don't think this is a black/white thing. This is a liberal/conservative thing. Had that woman been a conservative, not only would she not have been a bitter victim, just waiting to take it out on a white guy she thought was talking down to her, she would have had the integrity to do the right thing, no matter how she felt about the client. There is racism across the board, but the democrat party has ALWAYS been the main source of racial hatred in this country.

Its like you don't pay attention. The video came from Breiburt of the Acorn video scam. The video is heavily edited to put this woman in a bad light and ignore the entirety of what she actually said.

She admitted to initially treating the white farmers differently from black farmers. But her story continues as she discussion her realization that she was wrong, her assumptions about race were wrong and she changed her attitude.

The white farm family she is talking about in her speech credit her with saving their farm.

But its a Breiburt video so the facts don't really matter.

Problems is that the facts to matter and the way this video portrays her is simply a LIE.

Trader Rick is right. This is so absurd that it is outrageous. All I can say is that the old phrase "the pot calling the kettle black" [geez - no pun intended] is coming in loud and clear.

I have lived my life to be kind to others - all types of people - but since this man has become President I am so sick and tired of the racism coming from black people and others (non-black) kissing their a$$es so much that it is nauseating.

And to top it off, I am currently unemployed - not counted by the system either as I am -- no -- was an entrepreneur (until the current socialists got control of our government in the 2006 elections) and am also sick and tired of job applications asking me my skin color/race/heritage.

I thought we were passed this crap and supposed to be a "color-blind" society!

Right... just like the president isn't a socialist...

The video was NOT "heavily edited." It was cut short by the person who submitted it, so the moral lesson at the end was not seen.

But the NAACP audience did not know there was a moral lesson at the end. Judging from their verbal reaction during the story, they were delighted that she was shafting a white guy.

ACORN video scam? Last I saw, ACORN workers across the country were being prosecuted for voter fraud and the organization has disbanded.

As far as Breitbart not being a credible source, I'd say it's more credible than any of the mainstream media, who completely ignored the story.

By the way, Fox News is defending Shirley Sherrod this morning, and she might get her job back. The Obama administration is so quick to throw people under the bus that she had to pull her car over and text her resignation before the story even broke. No investigation, no attempt to hear her side.

I will be glad if she gets her job back, but she is in a way irrelevant to this story. The story is the NAACP delegates' reaction to her tale before they heard about her conversion.

Once again, liberals poison everything they touch. The NAACP has become nothing more than a racist hate group.

What I am seeing here and elsewhere is the inability of Liberals to conceive that anybody besides white people could even be racist.

It seems black people can be as racist as they want to be but no one dares call them out on that.

Apparently, only white people can be racist. If a white man says or does anything that can be even remotely considered as discriminatory towards another "person of color" Whether it is intended or not, he is immediately vilified as a racist. But, King Shabazz, or whatever his name is, can shout, "Kill cracker babies" on a public thoroughfare and everyone excuses such obvious racist behavior as being understandable considering the centuries of oppression to which his race has been subjected.

I think all 25 immutable truths about Liberals apply here.

BTW, at the risk of appearing to promote my own blog (which I would never do), I posted an entry suggesting that the election of a (half)black President appears to have emboldened black racists, and black against white discrimination and rhetoric appears to be on the increase.

And it would seem that Obama, by virtue of his relative silence on the matter, appears to be giving his tacit approval and encouragement of the behavior.

Your post, LR, which I considered weighing in on myself, dovetails nicely with mine.

So what will become of Andrew Breitbart?? Is he going to ever get his credibility back? I noticed O'Reilly didn't even speak his name last night. I just hope this doesn't shut Breitbart down.

Uncle Walt said...

If you take the time to look carefully at the video originally posted on Brietburts blog, and then carefully compare it to the entire speech, you will see that it starts long after Ms. Sherrod's speech starts and doesn't include the earlier parts of her life story. Then it stops just after Ms. Sherrod says something that sounds racist. It does not include what she actually did. Taking a small clip out of a larger speech in such a way as to completely distort what she was saying is EDITING by any definition.

And, in the unedited video, there is no Audience reaction somehow agreeing with her supposedly racist decision not to help the white farmer.

When it was first posted, it was labeled and clearly designed to make it look like Ms. Sherrod was a racist who had been appointed by President Obama. It didn't point out that she was talking about things she had done 20 years earlier BEFORE she was a federal employee. The lables on the video in essence accused her of being a racist.

When the entire video came out, then and only then did the second excuse come out saying that what was outrageous was the way the audience reacted.

And now its clear that the audience didn't react the way that Brietburt and his supporters claim.

As for the Acorn videos, several investigations have shown that the people on tape NEVER actually went into any ACORN offices wearing their ridiculous costumes. And again the videos were heavily edited to make some of the ACORN employees seem to be saying things they didn't actually say. And nowhere does the video point out that many of those ACORN employees called the police after the actors left their offices to report what they were doing.

And, as an aside, no ACORN employee has been accused of Voter Fraud. If you had actually paid attention you would know that some of the paid canvassers that Acorn used to get voters registered fraudently filled out the forms with bogus information hoping to defraud ACORN. ACORN is required by law to submit all the voter registration forms they recieve and they did, but they also segregated those forms they believed to be fraudulent and advised the various registrars that they didn't believe they were valid.

Next?

You said, "heavily edited." Plucking a clip out of a longer speech, may be editing, but not "heavy" editing.

How can there be no audience reaction in the full clip when it is clearly there in the short clip? NOBODY in the media has alleged that a bogus soundtrack was added.

North Carolina — State Board of Elections officials have found at least 100 voter registration forms with the same names over and over again.

Ohio — The New York Post reported that a Cleveland man said he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times.

Nevada — Authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on Tuesday October 7, 2008, after a month-long investigation. The fraudulent voter registrations included the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up.

Indiana — More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana’s Lake County filled out by ACORN employees turned out to be bogus. Officials also stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

Connecticut — Officials are looking into a complaint alleging ACORN submitted fraudulent voter registration cards in Bridgeport. In one instance, an official said a card was filled out for a 7-year-old girl, whose age was listed as 27. 8,000 cards were submitted in Bridgeport.

Missouri — The Kansas City election board is reporting 100 duplicate applications and 280 with fake information. Acorn officials agreed that at least 4% of their registrations were bogus. Governor Matt Blunt condemned the attempts by ACORN to commit voter fraud.

Pennsylvania — Officials are investigating suspicious or incomplete registration forms submitted by ACORN. 252,595 voter registrations were submitted in Philadelphia. Remarkably, 57,435 were rejected — most of them submitted by ACORN.

Wisconsin — In Milwaukee ACORN improperly used felons as registration workers. Additionally, its workers are among 49 cases of bad registrations sent to authorities for possible charges, as first reported by the Journal Sentinel.

Florida — The Pinellas County Elections supervisor says his office has received around 35 voter registrations that appear to be bogus. There is also a question of 30,000 felons who are registered illegally to vote. Their connections with ACORN are not yet clear.

Texas — Of the 30,000 registration cards ACORN turned in, Harris County tax assessor Paul Bettencourt says just more than 20,000 are valid. And just look at some of the places ACORN was finding those voters. A church just next door is the address for around 150 people. More than 250 people claim a homeless outreach center as their home address. Some listed a county mental health facility as their home and one person even wrote down the Harris County jail at the sheriff’s office.

Michigan — ACORN in Detroit is being investigated after several municipal clerks reported fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications coming through. The clerk interviewed said the fraud appears to be widespread.

New Mexico – The Bernalillo County clerk has notified prosecutors that some 1,100 fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in by ACORN.

They didn't wear their "costumes?" Yeah, I guess that makes everything that was revealed bogus.

Not only did Shirley Sharrod say racist things, her husband is fond of referring to black conservatives as "Uncle Toms." Sounds like racism runs in the family.

BUT, let's assume for the moment that you aren't wrong about everything you believe. Where's the condemnation for liberals calling tea partiers racists? Are those not smears? The only standards liberals have are double standards.

You show me racism by anyone, Liberal or Conservative or Monster Raving Loony Party and I will condemn it.

However, pointing out that there are racists in the tea party is simply a valid observation, not a condemnation of the entire Tea Party movement. One part of the Tea Party movement has even expelled some people for their racist comments or blogs. I don't know where the smear is in pointing out the obvious.

Unless you are claiming that there are no racists in the Tea Party movement. Are you?

As to "heavy" editing, I guess you can argue that just using a short clip out of a much larger speech is not heavy editing. Editing the speech by only using a short clip that is designed to make it sound like the speaker is saying something racist when they are not may not be "heavy" editing, but it is still deliberatively deceptive.

Uncle Walt said...

The list of invalid voter registration froms submitted by some Acorn offices establishes one of my earlier points. Nowhere has ACORN been accused of Voter Fraud.
Nowhere.

Many fradulent voter registration forms were submitted through Acorn offices. In many of those cases, Acorn supervisors had already segregated out the forms they suspected of being fradulent before they were submitted to the registrar.

However, I know of no case where any local or state authority brought any charges against any Acorn office or actual Acorn employee as a result of this.

The invalid/fradulent forms were filled out by people trying to get paid for voter registration efforts being run by Acorn, the people doing this were not actually Acorn employees. If you have ever done voter registration drives, either for free or for money (I have done both) then you know that the people on the street with clipboards getting you to register to vote are rarely employees of the sponsoring organization.

So some people who were trying to defraud ACORN submitted fradulent voter registration forms. In many, but not all, cases ACORN identified the fradulent forms as suspect before submitting them.

Lone Ranger said...

If you will condemn racism by anyone, then you must be willing to condemn the entire history of the democrat party.

I am not claiming that there are no racists in the TEA party, but I am claiming that the corrupt lamestream media is smearing the entire movement with the actions of a few.

I've worked in TV and radio for 37 years (sheesh) so I know a bit about editing. And she DID say racist things even in the parts that were left out. She turned him over to "his own kind?" What's that all about?

As for no one in ACORN being accused of voter fraud, just because you haven't heard about it, doesn\'t mean it didn\'t happen.

Getting your news from the corrupt mainstream media is like sticking your head in the sand, except you don't get grit in your hair.

Saying that ACORN was the victim is like saying Al Capone was just a used furniture salesman who didn't pay his taxes. After all, that's all they got him for.

There is no question that until the late 50's early 60's the Democratic Party welcomed the participation of (mostly Southern) since the virtual absence of a Black vote in the South meant that a heavy majority of elected officials in the South were Democrats. It was said that a Republican couldn't get elected dog catcher in the South because Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and many of the Carpetbaggers that came to the South after the Civil War were Republicans.

So in the 50's and early 60's a veritible rogues gallery of famous racist segregationists were Democrats.

And I would like to think that had I been more than 6 years old then I would have condemned them as racists.

But in the early 60's things began to change. Moderates and Liberals in both parties began to push for civil rights and supported people like Dr. Martin Luther King. That support included many Republicans but was rooted in the Northern wing of the Democratic party which was far more Liberal than their Southern party mates.

And as Civil Rights legislation succeeded, and black voters largely supported the Democratic Party, many Southern Whites began to migrate to the Republican Party. This was the essence of Nixon's Southern Strategy. They made thinly veiled racist appeals to Southern White voters and in a major realignment of American politics, a huge mass fo Southern Whites changed parties.

Republicans, to gain the support of those Southern Whites had replaced the Democrats as America's racist party.

Many of the leading figures in that Rogues Gallery of Racist Segregationist leaders became Republicans. Strom Thrumond most prominently among them.

I do not claim that there are no racists in the Deomcratic Party and I would gladly throw any of them under the bus.

There are still strong elements of racism in American society. Not as strong as they once were and racism against Blacks as a factor in America is fading, but its far from gone.

Pointing out that there are Racists in the Tea Party is a statement of the obvious and not a condemnation of the entire movement as racist.
Ill informed and completely lacking in credible or coherent proposals perhaps, but not all racist.

Uncle Walt said...

As for Acorn employees being accused of Voter Registration fraud, it appears I was mistaken.

Which doesn't change my point that the Acorn videos are deliberately deceptive (and in some cases illegally recorded) in a successful effort to smear the organization in the same way the video of Ms. Sherrod was deliberately deceptive in order to smear her with a lie.

Lone Ranger said...

Not all democrats were southerners. FDR absolutely refused to desegregate Washington or the military and he would not support a federal anti-lynching law. JFK voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act and criticized President Eisenhower for deploying the 82nd Airborne Division to Little Rock to force Democrat Governor Orval Faubus to integrate public schools

"I did not lie awake at night worrying about the problems of Negroes." - Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, 1961. Kennedy later authorized wiretapping the phones and bugging the hotel rooms of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

And although he is a southerner, there is no question that Jimmy Carter was also a liberal. In 1976, he said, "I'm not going to use the federal government's authority deliberately to circumvent the natural inclination of people to live in ethnically homogeneous neighborhoods. . . . I have nothing against a community that's made up of people who are Polish or Czechoslovakian or French-Canadian or blacks who are trying to maintain the ethnic purity of their neighborhoods." Had a Republican said that, the roof would fall in on him.

As far as things changing in the south, yes they did, but not the way you think.

This is what really happened.

Democrats love to invoke the name of MLK Jr., but if he were alive today, he was be just as hated as Clarence Thomas, Condoleeza Rice, Alan Keyes, or any other conservative, black Christian. The fact is, if any black manages to escape the liberal plantation, democrats feel perfectly justified to do contemptible things like this and this and this.

And these aren't individual loons on the fringe of a TEA party rally, these are mainstream liberals.

Democrats hold blacks in chains of ideology just as surely as they used to hold them in chains of iron. And that's racist.
