It seems Harry Reid let the mask slip. During the 2008 campaign, Reid described in private then-Senator Barack Obama as "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." Uh oh. He spent Saturday profusely apologizing -- something very unusual for a democrat. A leader of the party of segregation and slavery says something racist? What's so unusual about that? Here are a FEW racist utterances from SOME of the more prominent democrats since the party's founding.

Democrats have always been bald-faced racists and have always projected their racism on Republicans, who, of course, freed the slaves that the Democrats wanted to keep.
I wondered aloud why Harry would bother to make a formal apology now, after all this time, and my cynical husband said that I thinks Harry must want to get his name in the news for some reason. Maybe he's writing a new book?
The absolute worst thing you can do to a liberal is to call him a racist -- which is why I do it all the time. They have built a fantasy world for themselves, where on one mystical, magical day in the 60s, all the Republicans and democrats switched sides. It must have looked like the Oklahoma land rush. So it was actually Republicans who are responsible for slavery and segregation and democrats who have always been the champions of civil rights.
