My Health Care Plan

Well, there's 47 minutes the American people will never get back. Obama is either the stupidest man in the country or the most evil. If he REALLY believes he can pay for health care by eliminating fraud and waste in Medicare, why doesn't he do it now? Start today. Eliminate all that fraud and waste. Of course, the fraud and waste is occurring in a government program and is occurring on his watch. ALL government programs have incredible fraud and waste. And we are supposed to believe that he will not only be able to clean it up in Medicare, but none of it will occur in Obama-care??? How stupid is he? Or, how stupid does he think we are? Here's my plan for Congress. 1. Pass a one-page bill repealing the ban on insurance companies doing business nation-wide. Competition brings down cost -- a capitalist idea that liberals just can't seem to grasp. 2. Pass a one-page bill making health insurance tax deductible. Every dollar you spend on health insurance, you deduct from your taxes. This will give everyone the choice of coverage from none at all to so-called Cadillac care. It will also give insurance companies the incentive to cover people with pre-existing illnesses or people who get sick because they will be able to raise their rates without bankrupting the client. 3. Pass a one-page bill making liability insurance for health care workers tax deductible. It is absolutely criminal that a doctor should have to pay $200,000 a year for insurance. 4. Here's the biggy. Tort reform. Go back to the good old days when lawyers couldn't troll for clients on TV. Give judges the power to levy court costs for frivolous law suits. Those costs would be paid by the lawyer of the person who filed the suit. That would give lawyers pause before they took on such clients. And, set REASONABLE limits on awards. Awards would go for damages only. No million-dollar settlements for someone who doesn't have a perfect, master-race baby. That will also bring down the cost of liability insurance. Have I missed anything? Good health to all from Rexall!

"...bill repealing the ban on insurance companies doing business nation-wide."

Despite constant criticisms of the health insurance industry by trial lawyers in elected office, one finds that it is precisely this group which continually blocks the ability of insurance companies to compete across state lines.

Closer examination reveals the hidden reasons. When and if nationwide competition arrives, it would end fiefdoms of many lawyers and state lobbyists now employed by those companies, lawyers on state boards which regulate them, and the very probably, vulnerabilities that allow lawyers to extort hospitals successfully for malpractice incidents that never occurred.

Your plan, LR, is long overdue.

I'm sure this thing is full of holes, but it just shows how simple things get when you don't over-think them and don't have an agenda.
