Tiller the Killer Aborted -- Late-Term

Talk about mixed emotions. As a journalist, it isn't often that I am shocked by news, but when I got to work tonight and found that late-term abortionist George Tiller had been murdered, I did feel a little jolt of electricity surge through my body. Yes, murder is wrong. But, how does one mourn a monster? Tiller was the only abortionist in Kansas who performed partial-birth abortions.
Five steps to a partial birth abortion: 1) Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's legs with forceps. 2) The baby's legs are pulled out into the birth canal. 3) The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head. The baby's arms and legs flail about. 4) The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull and the baby's body contracts with shock. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull. 5) The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse and the baby to go limp. The dead baby is then removed.
The Nazis experimented with various methods of abortion, but even they were not depraved enough to come up with this technique. For the nominal sum of $5,000, Tiller would perform one of these abortions as late as the final day of the pregnancy. Where he slipped up is that a second doctor's opinion, which is required by state law, came from a doctor he employed. He was acquitted earlier this year, but faced further charges. The moral dilemma here is, when is violence justified to prevent further violence? The death of Tiller effectively brings to an end the horrendous practice of partial-birth abortion in Kansas. Was it worth it? Probably not. This will prove to be a -- you should excuse the expression -- Godsend for anti-Christian bigots, who will use it as proof of just how barbaric pro-lifers really are. Nearly 150 years ago, John Brown was found guilty of treason against the state of Virginia and hanged for his raid on Harpers Ferry. His intent was to spark a slave uprising and end the institution of slavery across the South. One wonders how our history would have been affected had he succeeded. There will be no civil war over abortion. This crime against humanity has become a stain on the fabric of our society that can never be washed out as long as one political party promotes it and the other party has lost the will to stand against it.

With all due respect, sir, I don't think so. Not only will there be others willing to step into his shoes, the "martyrdom" of George Tiller will no doubt encourage even more souless abortionists to continue his practices, including his equally souless daughters.

This is not the end. Not by a long shot.

By the way, LR, this was an excellent opinion piece. Much better than the one I wrote on the same subject.

No dilemma here.

It's a good thing we have rough men willing to die who will protect us from monsters like this witch doctor.

There were only three late-term abortionists in the country. Now there are two. I don't think people will be willing to step into Tiller's blood-soaked shoes. HOWEVER, Obama is looking to relocate Uigher terrorists in this country. Sounds like an ideal job for them. They can kill as many Americans as they want and become millionaires.

Two things:
Thing one: Murdering him is lowering yourself to his level.
Thing two: This guy ushered at church??? What in heck was he praying for??

Lowering myself to his level. How many times have you heard people lament that untold suffering could have been avoided if someone had only assassinated Hitler? What do you do when the state has legalized the slaughter of millions of defenseless people? It is estimated that Tiller himself was responsible for aborting 60,000 babies. I imagine we're up to about 47 MILLION children killed since abortion was legalized. And that's just the death toll in this country. That's not counting American dollars that go to countries like China, which have forced abortion policies. I am not advocating shooting abortionists, but I also don't have a better solution. What do you do when your country sides with evil? When France welcomed the Nazis with open arms, was the underground wrong for "illegally" killing Nazis and sympathizers?

See, that's where the moral dilemma comes in. Democrats see no more evil in abortion than they once did in slavery. They think of themselves as good, honest, upright people. Tiller was a church usher. The New York Times called him a "hero." But those same people might think Rush Limbaugh is evil and would not shed a tear if someone capped him. The people who do the evil are incapable of recognizing evil themselves. When abortion was first foisted on us by two lying ACLU lawyers, we were promised -- PROMISED -- that it would never be done past the second trimester and only in case of rape, incest and health of the mother. They mocked those who foretold a slippery slope. And here we are, when a baby can be killed for any reason or no reason at all up to the point of birth. Some are even strangled to death or left to die if they are "accidentally" born.

There can be no compromise on this issue. Those who abort babies are serial killers and those who tolerate abortion are enablers of serial killers. Imagine what the history of this country would be if moderate Republicans compromised on slavery.

While this comment is going to require a tin foil hat I have somethings I want explained to me.

1. Being a member of a Holiness Church, an abortion doctor would have been kicked out of the church. I can't imagine a church allowing an abortion doctor in, let alone a position of leadership in the church.

2. EVERY GUNOWNER in this country, no matter how much we loathe Comrade President is praying that he is protected. The same goes for abortion "doctors" mainly because of that crazy DHS report.

3. Since tiller was killed at church, IF this guy is as anti-abortion as is claimed to be, why would he do it at a church. IF the killer is a 'right-wing extremist' why wouldn't he do it at the clinic?

There are things that don't make any sense with this. I have difficulty feeling any remorse for his death. I'm a little worried what the left is going to say about those of us who are 'right-wing extremists,' even if there is no desire to harm anyone.

Something just doesn't smell right about this one.

1. Choosing a church these days is like juggling hand grenades. Churches, in their effort to be "inclusive," are opening their doors to people who don't even believe in God. They regard Christianity as a philosophy rather than a religion. Or, they use the church as a tool to further their career, such as Obama does.

2. It goes both ways -- sort of. On Monday, some Muslim nut murdered an Arkansas Army recruiter. That story got nearly no coverage. But, the MSM are losing their ability to spike stories. The Internet and Fox News were all over it.

3. From what I understand, Tiller's home and clinic are fortresses. The church was where he was most vulnerable. Tiller had previously been shot in both arms. The gunman obviously underestimated Tiller's dedication to helping women.

There are plenty of left-wing extremists out there too. The Unibomber, ALF, ELF, Dohrn and Ayers, etc. If someone hands that right-wing terrorist garbage at you, just arm yourself with the facts and throw it right back.

That made me cry. I never would read the process when you or elsewhere where I see it described because I cannot bear it.

BTW DAKOTA RANGER - Reformed Lutheran is the kicker on that one. Like LR said - Reformed Lutherans are second only to Episcopalians in what they will let in. A similar style service too. So not a shock he attended there.

Great post LR! How do you mourn a monster?
