Facebook...Thank you!

I am addicted to Facebook! I admit it. I went on there as a fluke and ended up finding everyone I have ever known that I have lost touch with. Because of Facebook I found my sixth grade class! We are now planning a reunion. Because of Facebook I found my high school class. We are all getting together on March 14th. And this was all by accident. I didn't go to find anyone or have get togethers but now that we visit there each day, we want to move to the next level and MEET! Because of Facebook I have found my old church group friends I lost touch with in 1990! Because of Facebook I am now friends with some old teachers and professors I used to have. And they all remember me too really well. They have told me nice stories. Sent me old books I read with them so I can now read them to my son. When my 6th grade teacher sent me this book with my name in it, and now I read these stories to my son...Made me choked up she had kept it all these years. Facebook is phenomenal. Other than reading this blog. This has changed my daily life. Hope you find some people you didn't think you would find too.

I've been running into a lot of old friends, too. One is now a school principal--and he was the one usually in the principal's office in school! LOL

I didn't think I ever wanted to have anything to do with the yesteryears, but I have to admit, I'm enjoying it. :)

I signed on to Facebook recently, and the first day I came across an old friend from College. It was so long ago, neither he or I remembered some things. He remembered we met in Art History class. I remembered meeting when we were both employees of the same company.

There were some rather funny exchanges. He mentioned a girl in our class who he had a crush on but didn't remember her name. I replied with the girls name and said I had a crush on her too. It was great hearing from him again.

I also recently reconnected with a couple of old friends from the old neighborhood. One was a girl who lived just a couple of houses from my parents house. She uploaded her picture and she looks just like she did 40 years ago! Even has the same hairdo!

I joined classmates.com, too. That's another great site for hooking up with old friends. Interesting thing about that:

Several of my high school classmates have sent me friend requests and messages, but I didn't know any of them very well at all. My closest friends from school that were listed haven't contacted me. They are organizing a 40 year reunion this summer that I can't go to, because of the distance, but it doesn't make any difference. I went to my 10 year reunion, and it's true what they say:

You can't go home again.

The really good news is that it looks like it will put Classmates.com out of business. So that will be one less spammer email I get every day.

I'm on it too, BTW, at my daughters' insistance. I don't use it much, though. It must be an acquired taste.

I think you are right Jim! And actually the newness does wear off. I get burned out and leave it alone a while and then when I need something...like a recipe or what was the name of that place we went to once...or I really want to know how someone is...I know i can find them in five minutes.

But I have also noticed that in general people we lost touch with may not be an accident...after all...they were people we only knew for a moment for a certain purpose or whatever and that was it.

The people I kept in touch with I don't need Facebook for.

Its just a theory I am working on...

In general the best purpose for Facebook is if everyone you know is on there you dont have to send a mass email to everyone when you want to tell them something. Just once on FB and its done!

The coolest thing is some people I found from High school are doing really important jobs...not only do I think Classmates is going out of business I think there is no need for formal reunions anymore either!

A guy I know is the host of a show on Discovery Channel called "Mythbusters." I love hearing about the stuff he jots on FB about his work and where he goes...but that could be a sickness of mine...!
