With the lefties in charge, there is talk again about bringing back the assault weapons ban that Bush let expire. I can't imagine people in high office being this stupid, so I must assume they are simply being dishonest.
THIS
Does the same thing as THIS.
But liberals want to ban guns that look like THIS.
Because they look scary.
So, if it's scariness that counts, why don't they ban guns that look like THIS?

The only scary looking gun is one with the barrel pointed at you. Maybe the lefties are too afraid that with their activities, they're too likely to find themselves on the barrel-end of that scenario?
It's already too late for that. The results of resisting the government were demonstrated very clearly at Waco.
LR - What do people that own assult weapons do with them?
These are not assault weapons. An assault weapon is capable of fully automatic fire. These are semi-automatic rifles. They fire one bullet each time you pull the trigger, like any other semi-automatic rifle. They are fun to shoot. They are also less ungainly when hunting in rough terrain. They are light, so easier to carry and short, so less likely to get hung up on a bush, tree or fence. In other words, people do with "black rifles" what they do with any rifle.
"Assault weapons" are an issue only because the gun banners are using deception to take away our rights.
LR: The greatest fear we should have is the total ignorance of people who ask questions that reveal that they haven't the slightest idea what they are talking about.
Some people know so little about guns that they think any gun that doesn't look like the ones you used to carry on TV or the movies are assault weapons.
True. Isolated armed resistance to the government isn't going to work, nor should it necessarily be the method of choice.
I don't want someone who disagrees with my politics using a gun to express their discontent, nor should I expect that method to be used with people whose politics I disagree with.
An armed and informed society can do a lot to deter criminal activity. That doesn't mean we have gunfights on Main Street blasting away at anyone who disagrees with us. (And I know that's the furthest thing from your point.) That seems to be the scenario playing in the heads of anti-gun people. They seem to think if only guns were illegal, nobody would have them, and I don't understand why they can never seem to see the fallacy in the logic on that argument.
Actually I get my entire gun education from reading this blog. I think it was of the best thing LR does on this blog. Because most people like me [living in CA] I just don't get the exposure to how normal guns or really know the facts.
But LR - what do you think of their new ploy to blame US guns for the chaos in Mexico?! Like if they didn't get US guns they wouldn't being killing at all...these people.
I don't believe the stories about Mexican gangs being armed exclusively with guns from the U.S.. We don't make AK-47s. We don't sell rocket launchers and grenades. I suspect a good number of these REAL assault weapons are coming from places like China. As for all the money, yup that's the fault of the American demand for drugs. We have never truly fought a war on drugs. Wars are fought on battlefields, not in courtrooms. Wars are fought by soldiers, not lawyers and police. Under Obama, the war against terrorism will be just as big a failure as the war on drugs.
