As a member of the media, I had a reserved parking spot just beyond the no-vehicle security zone -- about a quarter mile from where I work. I could have stayed there all day and watched the proceedings from our booth, but after a 10-hour shift, all I wanted to do was get out of Dodge. What was normally a one-minute drive, took 45 minutes! There were so many people that at times I came to a dead stop and as the people surged by, I felt as though my car was moving -- like when you stare at a moving train at a crossing. I had to get home through Maryland, because all the routes south into Virginia were closed. I have never in my life seen so many people. Only 1.5 million people showed up. Had there been the five million they first predicted, there is no doubt there would have been a major disaster. A few of them were white liberals. But it's over -- until we get our first Hispanic president.
I finally got home and heard a high-pitched squealing coming from my apartment. I entered and saw four distressed cats and my tabletop fountain turned over on its side and screeching. I have basically spent the last three days in bed, healing. I think my ankle is a bit better, but not much.
I will attempt to get back into blogging over the weekend. Got a lot on my plate right now.

Thank God you're OK! I was about to issue a BOLO for you. So, Did Obama's speech send a tingle up your leg?
At least a tingle in your bad ankle.
I have spent a lot of time staring at trains crossing.
Sorry about your table-top fountain and your cats.
Glad your ankle is better.
Now go finish your plate.
WELL HAIL TO THE CHIEF! That means you LR! Never so glad to see a post in my life...I missed you.
