I think I actually prevented a crime this week -- against me. I was coming out of a grocery store at 3 am Tuesday because I needed a pain killer. There was a guy loitering around my car who was just radiating menace. I looked him in the eye and felt the hair go up on the back of my neck. But, he spotted the gun on my hip and immediately remembered he had something to do somewhere else. I kept my eye on him as he walked off and he looked back at me just once.
Tonto, how did the little guy take the sudden disappearance of the dog? I don't think it's too early to start thinking about getting another one. I got Willow just a few days after Sam died. At the time, I was thinking that Sarah needed a companion quickly, but Willow really helped me get through the grief -- not that I'm over it yet.
I hope nobody asks me to make a turducken this year. Not that I'll refuse, but if nobody asks, I won't have to refuse to refuse.
Willow just came tearing through the room with a plastic bag following her like a parachute behind a dragster. I'd better go investigate. Hopefully, I'll be able to blog further at work tomorrow.

Ha ha ha! I'd love to have seen the look on the guys face when he spied that gun!
I was a graveyard shift clerk in an inner city convienience store long ago, when the earth was cooling, and I know I prevented at least two robberies by just being vigilant and paying attention.
On one of those ocassions, a car with two men in it were spotted by a customer sitting in a parked car just across the street. I called the police, and when the police showed up, the car took off. The Police chased them down, pulled them over and found two ex cons, both who had served time for robbing convienience stores, and a loaded shotgun on the back seat.
I've never been robbed, but that was probably as close as I ever came. I happen to look intimidating, I'm told. Maybe that's why I've never been robbed. If they only knew what a pussycat I am!
You're sure getting a lot of mileage out of that gun! Love it! :)
I have never owned a gun.
I am giving serious consideration to purchasing one.
You have encouraged me to do so.
What would you recommend?
I really like the Springfield XD line. I have a 9mm.
Actually my problem is my other small dog her sister is depressed now and won't eat.
Do you think she wants a new sister already?
Dogs shake off things very quickly. I think your other dog is responding to your depression. Dogs live in the moment and have no problem letting go of the past. The trick is how to get them to do it. I suggest you try to find a Dog Whisperer DVD at the library or watch his show on National Geographic. There are also some good videos on his site.

Hey, LR, what do you think of the latest twist in "Ghost Whisperer?"
I haven't watched any episodes this season yet. I have them all on TiVO. I spent my downtime this week catching up on all the other stuff I haven't gotten around to watching. GW is taking up about half my drive space, so I'd better get to it this week.
I'll be interested in your reaction when you get caught up on GW.
