After an I've-fallen-and-I-can't-get-up moment, I climbed to my feet and found it almost impossible to put weight on my right foot. So, I hobbled off to bed, thinking it might be better by the time I went to work that night. It wasn't. So, I drove to Andrews AFB. Sprained ankle. I got back home and went to bed. Not only did I sleep all day yesterday, but all night and all day today. I'll be out of work for about a week.
The constant pain has gone down to the point where I can pretty much ignore it. But until my stride improves to more than four inches without me whimpering like a puppy, I'm not going to be much use to anybody.
The upside of the story is that this year I ordered the complete Man from U.N.C.L.E series on DVD as my Christmas present and it arrived just before my accident. So, I have something to do for the next seven days.
At the hospital, they told me to keep an eye on my kittens, because they like to munch on the metal clips keeping the Ace bandage on. Sure enough, when I woke up this morning, the bandage was unraveled. I found one clip next to the litter box and one next to their food bowls. It's hurting a bit too much to try to rewrap it just now.
Speaking of which, I'd better go elevate it. Talk to ya later.

Grateful to hear you are on the mend!
May I suggest, for the pain, Jack Daniels? Get well soon!
I've sprained (sic) both my ankles so many times I've lost count. Usually, I'm walking fine the next day. Last February I had a particuarly bad one that laid me up for a few days. It still gives me pain on wet and cold days. I think, at my age, I recuperate slower now.
Sorry to hear about your down time, chief! At least you've got kittens to pet while you're healing...did you know that petting kittens accelerates healing? It's a medical fact.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. Hang in there.
As always, prayers are with you, LR.
Try not to watch the news any more than you have to, though.
Stick to the DVD's.
Hope it all heals well and quickly.
I broke my little toe Thursday. Nothing can be done except tape it to the other toe and endure 'till it gets better.
Ankles (and most other joints) are the bane of my existence. The last couple of sprains took six months to heal (of course, I was walking ok long before then). Hope you're feeling better soon.
