On the Road Pt. 5

My final night in the haunted hotel. No ghost sightings yet. I think the problem is that I'm in bed before any self-respecting ghost is up for the night. But, it's 11:45 now, so maybe there's one last chance. I just got back from a farm where we watched fireworks for about an hour. Next time I'll buy just half as many. Like my vibrating recliner, it felt SO good when it was over. My sister Sheila made a great cookout dinner with shishkabob and shrimp and other goodies. I helped peel the shrimp and sliced the strawberries for desert. All three of my sisters were there, which is an unusual event. They pledged in front of me to get together more often. They all said they read my blog, so I'll have to be more careful about what I say. There is the most amazing store here called Fleet Farm. Their ammo is right out in the open, where you can just pick out what you need, rather than in WalMart, where it's in a locked cabinet behind the counter. I bought two pair of jeans and seven western shirts. The checkout girl said, "buying some dress shirts, eh?" I said, "where I live, they're called cowboy costumes." She was suitably shocked. It took all my willpower not to buy a $750 saddle. It would look good in my bedroom. But that's no fate for a real saddle. My phone miraculously healed itself -- sort of. The Home button doesn't work, so I have to power it off to get to the home screen, but hopefully that can be fixed. At least I didn't lose the pictures I took at my reunion. But there's still no signal until I drive up the hill. I'm at water level with Lake Michigan here and there is no service until I drive about a mile up the hill and almost out of town. Well, it's more than two hours past my bedtime and as soon as I wake up I start the third leg of my journey -- to Springfield, IL. So, the sooner I get to sleep, the sooner I start. I've driven 2,850 miles so far. Later, from Springfield. Hope you all had a happy 4th.

One shirt for every day of the week? But if you want to have wash day once a week you need eight shirts...cowboy math.
