Back to Abnormal
I pretty much slept the last two days away. I slept all day Thursday, all night, and all day today. I got out for awhile to buy the new iPhone, but when I got to the AT&T store, there were about 50 people lined up. So, I went to IHOP and an hour later there were still 50 people lined up. Seems they're having trouble with the new phones. So, I'm going to sit it out for awhile with my fried phone.
I questioned today whether I got the same cat back that I took in. Guinevere has been behaving most un-Gwen like. Instead of pacing and giving her weird trilling sound at mealtime, she sits patiently next to her bowl. And today, she slept all day in the crook of my arm. She has NEVER done that before. She usually just wakes me up for a brushing and then leaves after I'm done. Not that I have anything to brush now that she's been shaved. But then she threw up a hairball that looked like a dreadlock and I knew I had the right feline. Don't know where she got all the hair.
I returned to work tonight and it was just like I'd never left. By that I mean there was no "welcome back," no "long time no see," no "where you been?" Just another day in liberal land. It is summer and summer means interns. This place looks like a Bill Clinton theme park. I ignore them, so they fear me. Or resent me. I don't know which. It's just unseemly to hang on every word of a giggly valley girl. One of them told me her name, but I forgot it, since I have no intention of talking to her. Guess that makes me a crusty old journalist like the crusty old journalists who wouldn't talk to me when I first got here -- and still don't.
Oops, double shooting in Cambodia. As if anyone cares. Gotta get back to work.

Your work seems like a real hell-hole--you ought to get out of there.
Just as soon as I can find another job that pays me six figures for sitting and typing.
Re: Gwen. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, even - especially - with cats. She'll be taking you for granted again soon enough. Enjoy it while it lasts.
I was thinking of you as I watched news reports of the long lines for the iPhone. Actually, I'm glad to see you didn't fall into line with the rest of them.
Sounds like Gwen found out she wasn't the center of the universe and really appreciates you now. She should be back to feline self-centeredness shortly.... ;)
Money isn't everything.
