Spitzer's Victims

The internet is ablaze with the Eliot Spitzer prostitution ring scandal. Even Democrats don't like him, so it looks like they won't be circling the wagons this time. I've encountered some idiots on the Internet who still believe prostitution is a victimless crime and can't understand why it's illegal in the first place. Well, here are at least four of Spitzer's victims.

I don't understand. How is Spitzer's indiscretion different from McGreevy's, Clinton's, and various other politicians who weren't forced to resign?

Is there nothing new a man can do with his ego except cheat in the most salacious way they can find?

Because...this kind of thing has been done to death.

And it is humiliating to women that they ask their wives to stand next to them when they feign repentance.

Spitzer actually committed crimes, including federal crimes such as violation of the Mann act. Also, he was universally hated by Republicans and Democrats. He didn't have a friend in the world. So, they are after his head. His hypocrisy (and you know how liberals hate hypocrisy) in being a tough prosecutor while engaging in crimes was also a big factor.

Yeah you could tell he hates everyone else too. His behavior at the press conference...I thought it showed through.

He is an angry little man.

O'Reilly says Spitzer's ego splashed over into full-blown narcissism and that he wanted to get caught. That sounds reasonable too.

I simply don't understand people who cheat on their spouse. In my military career, I had NUMEROUS opportunities to commit adultery. As somewhat of a television celebrity at the same time, women used to throw themselves at me. They'd pretty much have to because reading signals for me is like a blind man reading semaphores. But the thought never entered my head. I could no more have done that than deliberately cut off a finger. But, that's just me. There's a lot I don't understand.
