Rambling
I think I bit off more than I could chew with my other blog. The good news from Iraq is coming in faster than I can post it. I made about 30 posts tonight. Did you know that if you make too many posts on your blog, Blogger turns on word verification? I have 987 posts there and still have about 60 to go. I have no doubt that more will come in while I wait the 24 hours for word verification to expire. And I haven't seen any of this stuff in the MSM.
I took my blood sugar when I woke up yesterday and it was down to 91! Normal is from 90 to 100. My sugar usually tests over 200. So, this is good. I don't know if it's my new medication or dropping caffeine. Probably both. Today, I start eating oatmeal (yuck) to tackle my cholesterol. I guess it's better than chicken wings, even though I make the best wing dip in the world. I'm trying everything I can think of before I have to start exercising.
The lazy man's shepherd's pie experiment was a success. I just slapped together a layer of Dinty Moore beef stew and a layer of mashed potatoes -- and I didn't even make the mashed potatoes! It's a bit odd to dig in and find potatoes under a layer of mashed potatoes, but it works.
I was at PetSmart awhile ago, again looking at the cat cages, which I shouldn't have been, and a young woman was adopting a young, short-hair, black cat -- not much older than a kitten. I came back the next day and the same cat was back in its cage. I heard a couple of employees talking about the "demon cat" who looked the girl right in the eyes and then clawed her face. They said she was terrified of it. I guess she didn't know the rule about not handling a cat unless it wants to be handled. The cat was gone the next day. Either they sent it back to the rescue group or someone else adopted it. I ALMOST took home a pure white short-hair of about the same age this week. But I didn't.
Would you like to edit your pictures? Here's a good photo editing site. http://www.picnik.com/
Guess I'd better poke my head up and see if there are any stories to write. Just an hour till quitting time and a bowl of oatmeal.

You can add stuff to your oatmeal, like bananas, strawberries, maple syrup or garlic...
I'm thinking sugar-free whipped cream.
Mashed potatoes? I thought you were low-carb guy.
I'm not as low as I used to be. I used to be down to 20 a day, but the doc says I could have 90 per meal. There are a lot of days when I'm way below that.
I get cinnamon roll flavored Oatmeal. Did you know cinnamon counteracts sugar? That's the excuse I use for eating sugar. As long as there's cinnamon in it, too, it's ok to eat.
Do you think my doctor would buy it?
Cinnamon has a lot of curative powers, but doctors are reluctant to approve anything they can't subscribe.
Garlic, Rick???
(ack!)
You should go to the Gilroy garlic festival in Gilroy, California in late July. They have things like garlic ice cream and garlic jam and it all works!
That could be a possibility were we to go north to see the friends who live northeast of Sacramento and bug us to come up. I might be able to talk the boys into making the slight detour. I'll have to phrase it properly though... ;)
I went twice when I lived in Japan. When you approach Gilroy, you can smell the garlic in the air from the fields. I have one of their cookbooks, but haven't tried anything yet. It's a huge celebration.
I was only kidding!!!
