I'm A Grandpa!

I was sprinkling a little food in my fish tank this morning, since I'm too lazy to refill the automatic feeder, and I spotted several teensy fish swimming around on the surface. Babies! I have just one male guppy and several females, so he must be doing his duty. I'm going to have to put some surface cover in there so they don't get eaten by their parents. It seems conditions among fish and among humans are exactly opposite. Went to the dermatologist this week and she froze about five nearly invisible things off my face. She says I should wear sun screen to prevent them. Makes sense, since in drive a convertible on sunny, but freezing winter days. And now I will await castigation from my female readers for that headline.

Why would we castigate you?? Am I missing something?

My son had a guppy give birth to 60 (yes, that's 6-0!) babies once. No wonder she died shortly thereafter! We bought them their own "playpen" and saved quite a few that way. When they were grown they went back to the land of their forefathers--a friend's pond. :)

(And wear that sunscreen!)

Guppies, like humans, bear their young alive. They DO eat their young but it's just part of Mother Nature's wise and grand scheme of things. Humans kill their young by the millions to the ever damnation of their souls...So it goes.
