LONDON (Reuters) - Three-dimensional images, which helped to show that double amputee Oscar Pistorius receives considerable advantages from carbon fiber blade attachments, have become a significant tool in the drive to improve athletic performances. The South African runner, who had both legs amputated below the knee as a child, failed on Monday in his bid to compete at August's Beijing Olympics and has now been banned from competing against able-bodied athletes. Is it too early to start a Robolympics?

Many years ago, I had a friend who had an artificial leg. He said his artificial leg was stronger, and better than his real leg. He demonstrated that by standing on the one artificial leg perfectly still for a couple of minutes. He never wobbled or wavered.
Oh, and he also stuck a knife in it, and stood there with the knife jutting out of his thigh. It was disturbing.
Kind makes you wish they would bring back the "freak shows" they still have in Canada but banned here.
There would be some pretty cool things if they did it now.
I saw a news report on him, and it was very very moving, but I still wouldn't want to have to compete against him if I were one of the other runners.
