Another Craving Satisfied.

Another of the few things I miss from California is Yoshinoya Beef Bowl. This chain restaurant was established in Japan in 1899, so they have the recipe down pat. The last time I was in California, I had a beef bowl every day for the week I was there. Well, today I had such a craving for this beef and onion dish piled on rice, that I decided to try to make it myself. SUCCESS (almost)! Next time I'll make it a little less sweet and a little more salty, but I now know that my cravings will always be fed. I don't know whether that's good or not. I've been doing that since I was about eight years old, following my grandma around the kitchen and seeing how she made all my favorite foods. That attitude has come in handy during my globe-hopping days, when I came across exotic (for me) dishes that I knew I'd want for the rest of my life. I am going on a trip Monday. Monday, I'll check the cats into a hotel that costs as much as the places I'll be staying and hopefully be on the road at 7 am. There is something screwy with my new laptop. It has built-in wireless and it detects wireless signals. I've tried it at home and at a Paneria. But it won't connect. Figuring it out will determine whether I'll be posting next week. I have joined the Borg. Since the slackers at Tweeters won't be able to install the bluetooth module for my audo/video/navigation unit till I get back, I picked up one of those bluetooth ear thingies today. I already had my first encounter with a clerk at Trader Joe's, who thought I was talking to him rather than someone on my phone. I'll have to make more friends, so I get more than two phone calls a week. O'Reilly just started, so it's time for a second helping of beef bowl.

"JOINED" the Borg? you must mean ASSIMILATED....(Resistance is futile).

Well, I did resist for quite awhile. But I find now that having two hands free is quite an advantage -- especially in the bathroom. Trying to tuck one of those dinky phones under my chin was nearly impossible.

Not!

By the way, rick, I was going to say a guy like you knows way too much about the Borg. But then I remembered Seven of Nine.
