Politics as Usual

I'm going to make this comment by al-ozarka a post, because it's attached to an old post and is motivated by recent (like, today) events and you folks might miss it. Is that setup clear enough? LR, I'd like to nominate a group of individuals...all related...all for equally dishonorable acts of idiocy. Pat Robertson, Paul Weyrich, and Sam Brownback. Okay...so Brownback is a politician and not preacher...but he does claim to be a religious conservative And...he did join the other two in endorsing candidates unsuited for the religious right. What the HELL are these people thinking? Huckabee '08, for crying out loud! About Pat Robertson. He endorsed Giuliani to block a third-party movement among evangelicals. He knows that although voting on principle is just fine, this is too dangerous a time to just hand an election to the Democrats. Consider the alternative. Remember that the only reason Bill Clinton ever stumbled into the White house was because of a third candidate. More people voted against Clinton than for him. About Huckabee. Eeeeeeeeeh, I've said before that all the Republican candidates have major flaws. Huckabee's is illegal immigration. He has compared illegal aliens to slaves brought here in chains from Africa, saying, "I think frankly the Lord is giving us a second chance to do better than we did before." When an Arkansas legislator introduced a bill that would prevent illegal aliens from voting and receiving state benefits, Huckabee denounced the bill, saying it would rile up "those who are racist and bigots." Do you consider yourself a racist and a bigot for opposing illegal immigration? He also made the insane point that companies would not invest in Arkansas if the state didn't allow non-citizens to vote, because it would "send the message that, essentially, 'If you don't look like us, talk like us and speak like us, we don't want you.'" AND he's a governor from Arkansas. The very concept of another Arkansas governor in the White House should cause people to quake in fear. Thanks to Ann Coulter for those quotes. I have finally come to the realization that there is no such thing these days as the perfect candidate. Liberalism has so corrupted our culture that everyone in politics has been poisoned. What common man has not said he could run the country better than the people in Washington? And they are very likely right. But common men are no longer elected to office. Even though our Founding Fathers were the greatest gathering of minds since the Last Supper, they could never have envisioned that this country would be a sanctuary for homosexuals, pedophiles, pornographers, abortionists, etc. This country has become everything they feared it would be and far more. But, it's still the greatest nation the world has ever seen -- for now. Although the Founding Fathers worked hard to create the Balance of Powers, that is now in a shambles. Although he is called the Chief Executive, the president is no longer the greatest power in government. He is not even equal to the legislative and judicial branches. The real legacy every president leaves is his federal judge appointments. Since FDR stacked the Supreme Court with socialists, who overlooked the unconstitutionality of his New Deal policies, liberals have used courts at every level of government to push through their twisted ideology. The voters would never have legalized abortion or banned the death penalty. The voters would never have voted for the 55 mph speed limit or busing to achieve racial equality. And even when the voters do get to make their will known and it doesn't go the liberals' way, you will see ACLU lawyers camped out on some liberal judge's doorstep the next morning to have the election overturned. As far as I'm concerned, in this election there are only two qualities that are important -- who will appoint conservative judges and who could beat Hillary. The two great hopes for this country are conservative judges and the fact that liberals are aborting themselves into extinction.
