Update
OK, I promised an update, so I am typing through drowsy eyes. I managed to get a few hours sleep this morning. At one point, I turned on Laura Ingraham to see if she could lull me to sleep, but Ginger took, exception to it. She jumped onto the bed stand next to my radio and started yowling until I turned it off. Then she went back to sleep.
I drove to Maryland to look at THE CAR and it turns out they moved it to another location for some sort of inventory. So that was another 30-minute drive. But, once I got there, I knew the deal was in the bag. I didn't even take a test drive.
Got all the paperwork taken care of and took off. It has a heads up display on the windshield! So I don't even have to look down to check things like my gas and speed. The first time I pulled away from a stop light, I nearly broke my neck. I was constantly trying to hold it down to 55. It seems that all I have to do is think about something and it does it.
One thing I don't like is the convertible top. On my old car, it was a one button process. So I could put the top up at a red light if it started to rain. But with this car, I have to get out, push a release button, pull the top half down, lift a panel that conceals it in the trunk, stuff it into the trunk and slam down the panel. The opposite goes for putting it up.
It has no spare tire. I'm told I can drive on a flat if necessary. I'm keeping my AAA membership up to date, just in case. So, tomorrow, I get some stupid inspections done and register it in a few places. And then the hassle will be over. Right now, I'm just dead tired.

OK that's it...I'm impressed...oh my...I bet you waste a roll of film taking a picture of every part of this car and you in it...men do that I noticed...see the chick magnet thing is working already...I hope if I was there you would offer to take me for a ride in your new car...with the top down...ok excuse me...corvette...a corvette is not a "car."
Congrats...
My hero!
Did you keep your other car?
If not, I would suggest that you look around and try to find an older, small pickup truck that you can get cheap.
You will need to move larger things than will fit into a Corvette more often than you think...
Congratulations! You're gonna love this car!
Film? What's that? I wouldn't take you for a ride, I'd let you drive it. That's the only way you can experience what this vehicle really is.
Nope, I traded my other car in. My parking slot costs $50 a month, so if I ever need to haul something big, it would be cheaper to hire someone -- not to mention Virginia's odious car tax.
Post some pics asap! Don't tell us you are going to drive the vette in the WINTER!!!! What are you thinking??
PS--I've got two older Pick-ups (Not much to look at) in the yard that run. If you want one, come and get it!! Tired of mowing around them...
I still have five days. If you're worried about winter, maybe I can trade it in on a Hummer. Besides, if Al Gore is right, winter is a thing of the past. My rule is if it is at least 40 degrees and not raining, I have the top down. It isn't like not being able to wear white shoes after labor day.
Congratulations! I'm kind of surprised you have to go through all that with the top, though. Seems a bit old-fashioned in today's automatic world.
Congrats, you deserve it!
Changing vehicles -even swapping privately - always seems to be a complicated process. We can especially relate this week as we are trying to swap a classic car for a camper. The swap ought to have been finished Monday! Everybody thought they had their titles ready immeditately, but each time it came time t turn up with each vehicle with titles, something snafu-ed. Hoping today will go better.
Your new car sounds cool :)
Definitely keep up your AAA. It has saved our backsides several times!
Susan
I can see you'll never be the same again...
Awesome car. Congrats.
And where have YOU been, young lady?
"And where have YOU been, young lady?"
Who? Me?
Never mind. I read your blog. Welcome back.
