The Medal of Dishonor
Here's an idea. How about if I award a Medal of Dishonor every Sunday to the person in the past week whom I have judged to be the most unpatriotic and the biggest embarrassment to the country?
The competition would be stiff, with all the treacherous lunatics making their way into the headlines every day, but it should be interesting -- assuming I remember to do it, or don't get bored with it, or distracted, or too lazy to research it, or... And, considering the endless stupidity of some of our politicians and celebrities, the award can be won more than once.
So, this week's winner is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In what could only be a personal vendetta, Reid organized 40 other Democrat Senators -- including three presidential candidates -- to sign a document censuring the speech of a private citizen -- Rush Limbaugh. This is very likely the greatest abuse of power by the Congress in our nation's history. By this action, Harry Reid proved that leftists all over the world hold free speech in contempt and want nothing less than to silence all opposition.
Harry Reid: Most dishonorable person of the week.

When at an event standing for the pledge or National antheme he's standing like a five year old waiting in line at a potluck.

I forgot about that, but there is so much of that drivel it's begining to sound the same.
I guess it's the long way of saying I'm wrong.
That ranks way below Rep. Pete Stark, who accused President Bush Thursday of getting soldiers heads blown off for "his own amusement." See what I mean about stiff competition? These people are all contemptible.
I didn't even hear about the Obama thing. I mostly write international news, so I guess I'll have to pay more attention to national politics. The Stark thing was so outrageous that all the talk shows were talking about it. This is starting to sound like work.
Why don't you just award the medal of Dishonor to the whole democratic par5ty every week? That will make it easier and Lord knows they all deserve it.
Oh, there are Republicans who are going to get it too.
I've definitely gotta agree with harry reid for this week...
I don't understand how that guy ever got elected. He has absolutely no appeal or personality. He reminds me of one of the zombies on "Night of the Living Dead."
Most of us would prefer our decisions to be as simple as right vs. wrong, good vs. evil, Republican vs. Democrat.
Unfortunately, opportunistic lawyers (not those like Tonto) have rigged the game of life so it will never be that simple.
Lone Ranger is correct; some Republicans deserve the Medal of Dishonor and some Democrats do not. The only reason to vote may be to repel an even greater tyranny than we see today.
If voters ever completely lose interest in their duty to vote, the lawyer class will certainly take over U.S. government like never before.
So, I ask (rhetorically), which lawyer do you plan to vote for in the '08 presidential contest?
Perry Mason.
