Whew! That was close!
I just dodged a bullet. I sat on the Iraq desk all night and wrote only one story -- what with the surge working and all. So, I was packing up to go home and had handed over my duties to the day shift.
The National desk was preparing for Bush's departure for Australia.
The East Asia desk was preparing for Bush's eventual arrival in Australia.
And, as I was walking out the door, the bulletin came across that Bush had arrived in Iraq! He sneaked out of town in the opposite direction!
Sounds like a problem for the day shift.

But it might have been fun to put your spin on it. :)
If there's any spin were I work, the editors do it. And they would tend to spin against Bush. I call myself a Jack Webb journalist -- just the facts, ma'am.
What a novel concept...
