The myth about Illegal Immigration

As far as California is concerned which is where I live and pratice law, I was among the many who saw that local cities including cities outside of California, for instance in Utah and Texas...were growing because of a huge supply of immigrants, and of course that meant mostly illegal ones. So I thought what's the big deal it is good for the economy. We all seem to be benefiting. I really did understand why Dem's and Republicans weren't really against it or doing anything about it. Then when I started practicing law here in 2002 I finally realized what a nutty state I lived in and why our taxes and insurances were so high and our resources so exhausted. Did you know that there is NOTHING....NO THING an Illegal Immigrant cannot do in this state EXCEPT ONE...and that is...PAY TAXES... Illegal immigrants can get worker's compensation benefits and they make up more than a third of claims. If they get hurt on the job which they should not working at anyway, they can make claims in CA like anyone else. If a worker on your house is there for more than a week or 52 hours and gets hurt your homeowner's policy has to pay for his medical care and so on...even if the worker was at fault or your contractor lied and said he had worker's comp insurance and didn't...YOU the homeowner still have to pay the claims which is why so many are fraudulent. The funny part about the law here is when I settled a worker comp claim and the person was illegal, he could ask for retraining but not ask for help finding employment because finding an illegal worker a job...well...is illegal! But your insurance company and the state can train him for a job, but cannot help him get a job...does that make sense to anyone because I sure do not get it? Now trust me this effects all our premiums and why many businesses cannot afford to stay here because the cost of insurance and the drain from so many claims. They can drive cars soon will have licenses and maybe car insurance I am sure, but even now if you hit them they can collect on your insurance policy. If they hit you, you still have to pay the claim on your own insurance policy or eat the cost personally since they don't have insurance. They are the largest population here using the medical care system for their kids and yet they pay no taxes or into policies to help support it. Don't even get me started about the cost of jailing illegals who cmmit crimes or the cost to deport them and then see them back again. Of course none of their income goes to keep the jails going or pay the public defender. They sent that tax free money back home. So I say make'm legal make'm pay taxes like the rest of us. Basically in CA you can not discriminate against an illegal worker in any way. So why would I bother being legal. I can avoid paying taxes and enjoy all the benefits. How is this helping our economy now? I always thought illegal immigrants helped keep things cheaper but I do not think so anymore not with them using all the services to exhaustion and at a very high price. They are not paying into the system vis a vis TAXES but they are the largest drain on the services taxes pay for. SO if I vote for anything, maybe I should think about mkaing them LEGAL so they have to PAY TAXES. I want them paying into the system they are so generously using. I unfortunately worked in the worker's comp area of law for a while. Really hated it, but Hey I didn't know. I had 80 cases. 46 of them were illegal worker injuries paying out through State disability or an insurance policy which go up for all of us because of this stuff. Each of the 46 cases which represents one illegal worker paid out at least $50,000.00 each. TOTALING 2.3 million dollars on workers not suppose to be working here, not paying through payroll taxes into any disability...just think there were 5 other attorneys in my office with even more cases...think of all that money being paid out...! So I say hey let's make'm legal just so they have to pay their share into the system they overuse. They get all the benefits and none of the taxes... OK I am repeating myself so will stop now.
