9/11

Yup, it's that time of year again. It comes around like Christmas, except with all the joy sucked out of it. People walk around with their butt cheeks slightly clinched (at least around here) in anticipation of hearing a loud boom. And politicians cheapen it as they cheapen everything. I prefer to mark anniversaries in years that can be divided by five. Not only are there fewer of them, but you can do a better job preparing for them. We are engaged in a war that none of us will ever see end -- unless a Democrat takes the White House and surrenders. It's like the Hundred Years War. The people of today, like the people of the 14th century, believe the endless war will end any day. All they have to do is find the right commander. Our leadership still believes we can fight evil without hurting any feelings or insulting anybody's religion. On the other side of the spectrum, we have leaders who think if we just ignore evil, it will go away. We won't start winning this war until both sides have cold water thrown in their face. That won't be in my lifetime.
