My TV would show only cowboy programs and steak house commercials. If I thought about my ex, I wonder if Godzilla would come on.THE ultimate couch potato's dream could soon be a reality, with the development of a TV that changes channels when you think about it.
Japanese electronics giant Hitachi is working on a "brain-machine interface" that analyses slight changes in the brain's blood flow and translates brain motion into electric signals. The technology was on display last week at Hitachi's Advanced Research Laboratory in Hatoyama, just outside Tokyo. It was linked to a train set, which reporters were able to make stop and go simply by thinking about it. Scientists said the technology could have huge implications for medical research, but Hitachi's scientists are more interested in using it to develop a TV remote controller that lets users switch channels by thought.
