Matt Lauer in Cuba!

Question for our in house journalist laureate...Lone Ranger... Isn't this reckless journalism for someone like Matt Lauer in the mainstream media to be going to Cuba saying how wonderful it is...acting as a pawn for Castro's progaganda when Matt knows good and well everything he saw and talked to was not the "regular" Cuba??? Dictators in the 70s in Central America were shunned by liberals...and now they celebrate a DICTATORSHIP!! I don't get it. This love affair with Cuba is one I just don't understand. Dictatorship...Schmictatorship! If it is so great why would people still risk their lives on a boat to come here? And, I watched Matt this morning and it really ticked me off when a nice Cuban shirtmaker offered to give him the signature shirt of Cuba...Matt replied...He would like too but he wasn't sure what HIS [meaning the U.S.] government would let him bring back. He could get fined. As if the U.S. is the bad guy. This is so irresponsible. When is a journalist going to go to Cuba and LIVE LIKE A CUBAN and not like CASTRO and report on that??? LR - we may have to send you? BTW- You ever been? The scene from "Guys and Dolls" is coming into my head when I said that.

A little correction here. Liberals have always been cozy with Latin American dictators -- if they are communists. One of the reasons liberals hate Reagan so much is that he supported the contras against the Marxist Sandinistas in Nicaragua. Liberals have never met a communist dictator they didn't like.

As for Matt Lauer, Michael Moore, Ted Turner and their ilk, they get away with what they do because the Bush administration is too gutless to enforce laws on the books that prohibit visits to Cuba.

Thanks. LR. I forget the key is the dictator has to be communist. Completely forgot that part. I was thinking of El Salvador and Chile.
