A jar popper it is. It's like an over-sized bottle opener. Just slip it under the lid of a jar and lift up slightly. When you hear the vacuum seal break, the jar will easily open. It's a great tool for the elderly, who just don't have the strength to open jars. One drawback -- it won't work on Mason-style lids. Costs under $3.

What you use to remove the tube on a bicycle from the rim, I think.
That would be a jar popper.

And what did you open with that today?
A jar of dill pickles I got at Harris Teeters. I usually buy nothing but claussen, but this store brand was just as good.
I've always used a regular bottle opener on Mason-type lids.
It seems like I've seen a jar popper in my collection of gadgets, but never knew what it was. I must have come with Dear Hubby. :)
