Bogus Reporting

Journalists lie. They are biased, ignorant, manipulative and stupid. Sometimes their ignorance and stupidity shows up in their stories as in this piece from the San Mateo County Times about women with guns.
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO - KIMBERLY SHRUM grips a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver and aims at a target 25 yards away.

Bang.

A hot shell casing hits the floor, joining hundreds of others littering the concrete at Jackson Arms Indoor Shooting Range in South San Francisco.

Problem. When a revolver is fired, the "hot shell casing" does not hit the floor, it stays in the chamber. That very likely means either the reporter wasn't there, she is totally ignorant about guns, or she just made it up. Everything else in the piece can be considered incredible. Liberals believe the end does justify the means. And if the means is lying to achieve the end -- gun bans -- they are perfectly ok with it.

The comments are just as interesting as the actual piece. The smack downs are great, but the real gems are the lying commenter's trying to salvage it:

I am glad to see such a progressive article out of the historically conservative San Mateo County Times. California's lack of shall-issue concealed carry laws is an anti-progressive black mark on the state. It's time to liberalize CA's approach to concealed carry!

or this one...

Excellent article. I will not bash the context of the revolve and spent casing. I have shot at an indoor range and know full well that casings from adjacent lanes can fly into my area. We were not there to know if that is the case or if there was "artistic license" used. Doesn't matter. What does matter is the point of the article. Women, and anti-gun people in general, need to realize that arming yourself with the intention of defending yourself, or others, is necessary....

I don't understand why some people thought the article was balanced. I guess I'm trained to see the bias in stories.

Shoot this is the tip of the ice burg, a couple of years ago when those guys hunting in Wisconsin with muzzle loaders were killed by a crazy guy, Nancy Grace didn't have a clue what a muzzle loader was. Not only does that show a complete lack of knowledge of firearms but shows a complete lack of knowledge about our history. But I guess that's what you get with public education
