Paying the Palfrey

If this becomes Washington's next scandal, it will relegate the Lewinsky circus to the dustbin of history. If it's true that Deborah Palfrey gave her phone records to a media outlet, it could be a scythe that cuts down far more Democrats than Republicans, simply because liberals are more prone to such hi-jinks than conservatives. If it isn't true, and those records are still secret, I wouldn't insure this woman's life for a nickel.
WASHINGTON (AP) - A federal judge ruled Friday that a former escort service owner cannot sell phone records and other documents that could be used to publicly identify thousands of her clients. Deborah Jeane Palfrey, 50, has said she planned to sell the list of up to 15,000 client phone numbers and other records to a news organization to help raise money for her defense. The alleged "D.C. Madam" ran Pamela Martin and Associates, an upscale escort service in the Washington area, for 13 years before it closed in August. Palfrey's civil attorney, Montgomery Blair Sibley, said Friday he does not believe the judge's order bars him from distributing copies of the phone records for free.

If the list goes public, which it most likely will, since it is supposedly in the hands of a news outlet now, I predict the following will happen:

Any Republican politicians on the list will be attacked by the Democrats as hypocritical, and be subjected to months, possibly years of investigation, during which they will resign from their offices in disgrace.

Any Democrat politicians on the list will receive a slap on the wrist and a standing ovation as soon as the Justice department clears them of any wrong doing.

Oh, and then the Lib apologists will stand there with their bare faces hanging out and claim the Republicans are corrupt and the Democrats "questionable ties" to any scandal are unproven, thus, they don't exist.

Oh, by the way, I linked to this post at my place, and expounded on my predictions via my blog post.

Don't forget that we never would have heard about the stained, blue dress if it hadn't been for Drudge. Most of the power of the press is in what they DON'T report. If the media already has a copy, I'm amazed that it isn't out there already.
