Whit, Whit, Whit

Zorro - The Sword and the Rose I've just been introduced to the wonderful world of Mexican soap operas. I've heard jokes about them, and now I understand. Telemundo is running a new Zorro series. I've been watching this thing for four nights now. Don Diego talks about being Zorro, he agonizes about being Zorro, he whines a bit about being Zorro, he even tells his girlfriend that he's Zorro (that upsets Fernando), but so far, I haven't seen him actually BE Zorro. Four hours and no Zorro. But lots and lots and lots of talking. And talking. Another thing I've noticed is that all the guys in this series are hunks, in the vein of John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Richard Boone, Clark Gable, William Holden, etc. None of these skinny little weasels that American women seem to prefer. What has happened to this country? When did the ideal man start to look like DiCaprio, Timberlake and Depp? Is this feminism at work?

You are the first person who has ever categorized Richard Boone as a "hunk". BTW, just so you know, Blogger erased your Wednesday blog on my computer...

LOL!!!! My husband watched some of these soaps and gameshows to work on his Spanish before we visited our son in Guatemala. The problem is that he was only picking up useful words like "bimbo" and "tramp"!!

Then it turned out that the villagers we were visiting are all Tzutujil speakers, not Spanish! It's a Mayan language with no relationship to anything we'd ever heard, so all his soap opera watching was for naught :-D

BTW, no girly men for me either. Give me Ahhhh-nold.

By "hunk" I'm referring to body type, not looks. In a John Wayne movie, DeCaprio would be the kid that the Duke tosses his reins to and says, "feed and water him, and give him an extra portion of grain. He's earned it."

DiCaprio catches the silver dollar flipped his way and says, "Yessir, yessir. I'll take really good care of him, sir."
