Another Non-Terrorist Attack
Exactly what do you have to do to be accused of terrorism in this country? It has happened again. This time, a young guy entered a mall in Salt Lake City and started shooting people at random. He killed five and wounded several others before the cops killed him. Turns out he was a Muslim immigrant from Bosnia. Authorities say they don't know what set him off. What? What set him off is he was a young Muslim!
On at least two occasions, Muslim men have intentionally run over people. On at least two occasions prior to this, Muslim men have gone on shooting sprees. Those who survived have STATED that they did it to avenge Muslim deaths in Iraq. No terrorism charges, no hate crime charges. According to the government, these were just troubled men.
This latest act would have been a terrorist attack in Israel, Iran and Iraq, so why isn't it here? Exactly what does the body count have to be before we consider it a terrorist attack? I know that as the world's greatest nation, we set the bar for achievement high, but this is ridiculous.
If these were " radical Christians" attacking abortionists, do you think the authorities and media would be so understanding? Fine way to wage a war against terrorism.

If the guy looked more like Tim McVeigh or at least came from the same church it would have been a more serious story. Since he didn't, I guess, it is racist to make a big deal about this.
You know Muslims get enough bad press as it is.
I suppose it would depend on the motive of the attacks. Was this particular youth on a mission of Jihad, or was he suicidally depressed?
It is, however, certainly terrorism, as Webster's dictionary would define it. But not necessarily as defined by the mainstream media.
But it does make you think though what is to stop suicide bomber types anywhere here in the US from walking into a WAL-MART as opposed an open air market in other parts of the world and start killing people.
How many such attacks have there been since 9-11 on U.S. soil?
Some of the perpetrators have even had "training." Again, what ajudication has been accorded the SUV pedestrian attacker at UNC last year?
Since punishments for these events are not well publicized as a deterrent, we can expect they are only the tip of giant icebergs or worse.
Our congressional "progressives" and too many Repub'n sympathizers with the anti-terror war movement must not believe that abandoning Iraq would encourage terrorism, including more of these events in our streets and malls. Yet, their highly suspect position of withdrawal from Iraq has not been subjected to even the most OBVIOUS QUESTIONS about protecting the American way and her citizenry.
For instance:
1) When these now "random" attacks by U.S. Muslims become more organized and frequent, what do they plan to do (besides blaming Bush)? Invoke martial law (suspending your individual rights)? Or perhaps, place Muslims in holding camps as was done with our Japanese and Italians during WWII.
2) How would either option above effect the number of terrorist sympathizers (peaceful Muslims) in the U.S.?
Notice, I did not even ask about granting due process to Guantanamo combatants and shutting down the NSA's telephone surveillance programs.
I don't see any bad press about Muslims. I see plenty of bad press about those durn Christians, wanting to pray in schools, hang up pictures of the Ten Commandments, and displaying Christmas creches and otherwise trying to tear down the ficticious "Wall of Separation"...
And people wonder why I 'keep my powder dry.' The really sad thing is this looks worse for us gun fighters than anything else. Evidently, some muslim was poking around Barret Rifles. They are the one's that produce the Big fifty sniper rifle
